There is nothing more pernicious than the illusion of liberty surviving, or even flourishing, alongside growing government power. It doesn’t work that way, not once you get past the transition from anarchy to lawful government. Personal liberty does not exist in a state of anarchy, because individuals can be defrauded, robbed, and killed at will by lone predators and organized gangs. Some degree of government power must clearly be exercised to secure liberty.
But when a government the size of America’s federal system grows larger, it occurs only at the expense of liberty, and the contraction of the private sector. Law is meaningless without the exercise of force to compel obedience. More government means more laws, more force, more punishment for disobedience… more things you must do, more things you cannot do.

Calling upon Jesus to bless your destruction of private property?
Not a theology with which I am familiar. I’m talking about Steve’s post on the vandalization of the NH GOP HQ in Concord. While I chuckled when I read Steve’s interpretation of what the anti-GOP jerks did (“We Will Just Destroy…Healthcare for Everyone.”), here are sycophants of the Democrat Party who fellow sojourners BOOED any attempt to put a mention of God back into their Party Platform trying to use Jesus as a political club. Yes, those folks; the Leftists that are always most likely to scream (like toddlers) “Separation of Church and State”!!!
WWJD – What Would Jesus Do? Once again, let’s remember that Jesus came to call individuals to salvation (and not Obama’s apostate view that it is a Collective effort) by individually repenting of their sins and then to individually and voluntarily receive the free gift of God’s salvation. The WWJD movement, when it first started, was intended to be a personal remembrance – what should I do in my walk of salvation to more emulate Him in a given situation. Now, given that almost everything becomes political after some amount of time, it is being used here as a threat, not a call to be still and be open. It is being used as a slur, an epithet, as a “how DARE you not be willing to act collectively – how DARE you fight us”!
Yet another Obama assault on the Constitution?
There is a ton of stuff going on that’s bad – and more and more keeps piling on (the “dense pack” theory of overwhelming your opposition). Here’s yet another one – From Breitbart:
President Obama wants fast track power so he can conclude the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), an expansive system of global governance that would deal a mortal blow to American sovereignty and our Constitution.
Fast track overrides the Constitution once — the Trans-Pacific Partnership overrides it forever.
TPP is billed a free trade agreement, but it is actually protectionism for Wall Street bailout banks, insurance and drug companies profiting off Obamacare, and the corporatists pushing open borders and amnesty under the rubric of “immigration reform.” The cronies with “access” in Washington are writing the deal while the rest of us are shut out.
TPP would subject the U.S. to the jurisdiction of foreign tribunals under the authority of the World Bank and United Nations. These unelected, unaccountable panels would constitute a judicial authority higher than the U.S. Supreme Court. They would have the power to overrule federal court rulings and order payment of U.S. tax dollars to enforce the special privileges granted to foreign firms that would be exempt from EPA and other regulations that strangle American firms.
And one Constitutional reason why the Republicans SHOULD not cave
Our Constitution is under assault like never before – Progressives see it, along with traditional families, the value of self-reliance, and God, as the last impediments to transforming America into their version of Dystopia Utopia. Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA) has the following observations on the current Continuing Resolution to keep the Government open (as the Democrat controlled Senate has failed to pass a “regular order” budget since 2009 under Harry Reid’s Majorityship) as well as the debt ceiling crisis:
“Given the ruthless and vindictive way the shutdown has been handled, I now believe that this president would willfully act to destroy the full faith and credit of the United States unless the Congress acquiesces to all of his demands, at least as long as he sees political advantage in doing so,” McClintock said in a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives. “If the Republicans acquiesce, immediate crisis will quickly vanish, credit markets will calm and public life will return to other matters. But a fundamental element of our Constitution will have been destroyed. The power of the purse will have shifted from the representatives of the people to the executive. The executive bureaucracies will be freed to churn out ever more outlandish regulations with no effective congressional review or check through the purse.

First Annual Strong NH Conference: Louisiana State Senator Elbert L. Guillory
Steve put it well on the announcement of this week’s GrokTALK! podcast:
Louisiana State Senator Elbert L. Guillory (District 24) who released this video and received much national press and internet fame for his announcement this year. (The Democrat party left him, so he left the Democrat Party)
So, I decided to plaigiarize it! Good entertaining speaker – teaching with spunk and wit! I’ve chopped his presentation only for time purposes as in “whole thing in parts”:
- His talk (Powerpoint by other means, Larry and Leroy, and an Obama Report card) in 3 Parts
- Q & A in two Parts
Part 1: Note: his “intro video” is included here – a better quality version is here.
Part 2:
Quick Thought: “All your money belongs to us!”
Once again, running behind! This Sunday’s Meet The Press had this gaffe (accidentally telling the truth) said by Senator Dick Durban (Progressive -Il):
“…for goodness sake, we have a tax code that takes out $1.3 Trillion out
of the economy, out of the Treasury I should say, each year and in that we can’t find some savings? Closing some loopholes, quote “raising revenue”? Of Course we can!”
He did say “out of the economy” at the first stab and then quickly “recovered” to the more “I am Government and I should have first pickings!” that a typical Big Government Statist would have. He was actually right – the tax code allows those that actually earn it to keep that $1.3 Trillion for themselves – and why not? But in typical Progressive outlook, every dollar that we get to keep is seen as a dollar that is “robbed” from Government – else why would they continue to yammer that “this loophole” or “that loophole” has to be fixed.
Loophole nothing –
Shutdown? What Shutdown? Part II – The intolerance of Progressives
“My goal is to make Washington as inconsequential to your daily life as possible”
– Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) during his run for the Presidency
Earlier today, Steve said:
Honestly. If I didn’t blog I wouldn’t have even noticed. It has had no affect on my life at all. None.
I’m not the only one.
Me too. At this point, there is no part of my immediate life that the “Slimdown”, as the Fed Govt has shut down an additional 17% of truly non-essential personnel, has effected. “Oh, you just don’t KNOW all the ways that Government works to make your life better every part of every day” is the blasting I’ll get from the Left (yeah, we’ll get the obligatory Timothy comment on this one). “Don’t you know that everyone and everything is connected? You’ll be sorry soon!!”
First Annual Strong NH Conference: Jordon Sekulow of the ACLJ (Parts 2, 3, 4, and Q & A)
Continuing on, Jordon continued to talk about his organization’s work on behalf of Liberty and Freedom, especially in terms of the Obama Administration’s efforts to “bring the pain” in showing its disdain towards veterans (NH CongressCritters Carol Shea-Porter, Annie Kuster, and Jeanne Shaheen, if you remember, have continued to vote FOR his policies – FORWARD!):
Part 2:
Part 3:
First Annual Strong NH Conference: Howie Carr (Parts 1 & 2)
I have been a listener to talk radio for decades and I remember first listening to Howie Carr as one of the tax advocates “captains” with Barbara Anderson on the Jerry Williams show on WRKO and then again when he took over for Jerry a while later. Being a long distance commuter for years, Howie was a constant drive-home companion: news, humor, great guests, wit – and an abiding disdain for politicians that worked for themselves, to obtain power, and to pass out patronage jobs.
He does not disappoint – on the radio or in person. Syndicated columnist, Hall of Fame talk show host, and New York Times best selling author – he’d quite the guy. And he had quite the opinion of one NH based politician as well – but more on that in a bit.
Part 1:
Part 2:
“I was NOT expecting this”
Early in her term, we at GraniteGrok told Kelly Ayotte that she was exceeding our expections. Then, however, it was clear that she had thrown in with both US Senators Maverick McCain and Lindsey Grahamnesty. Then we heard about her embracing amnesty for illegal alients. And then leading the lynch mob against the Republicans in the US Senate that were actually fighting on conservative terms. People have been noticing.
Even Howie Carr had noticed the change in her and brought it up during his speech yesterday; he asked the crowd their opinion of Ayotte. To tell you the truth, I was caught by surprise by the reaction to the question:
First Annual Strong NH Conference: Howie Carr (Part 3 and Q & A)
Continuing on with Howie at the First Annual Strong New Hampshire Conference is Part 3 and then a goodly Question and Answer time:
Part 3:
Question and Answer:
First Annual Strong NH Conference: Mike Biundo
The next speaker at the First Annual strong NH Conference was Mike Biundo. As an activist, I’ve known Mike for a number of years and have always seen him as a gentleman. While we disagree on a few issues, we have also joined forces on more than one ocassion in defending and advocating for Liberty and Freedom, for a more limited government. After working on the Rick Santorum and Romney campaigns, he started RightOn Strategies (along with Derek Dufresne and Kory Wood).
Here, he talks about time to get even more active – and get your friends and neighbors involved too! We have the ability, in NH, to make a difference. Join us – we are NH based and we live here – all the time.

Yes, a lot of speakers were present at the First Annual NH Strong Conference – and they weren’t done yet! Two more:
- Mike Rigas, Deputy Directer of Coalition Relations at the Heritage Foundation
- Hon. Marilyn Musgrave, former Congresswoman (R-CO) and Vice President of Government Affairs for the Susan B. Anthony List

First Annual Strong NH Conference: Pre-event Interviews
Yesterday we did live blog / live stream / tweet out the First Annual Strong New Hampshire Conference and Steve is starting to put up the “second in a row” remote GrokTALK! audio (last week being at the NH Federated Republican Women’s annual meeting).
Just after we had finished setting up, NH State Senator Sam Cataldo sat down with us and chatted for a while:
Immediately after (and just before the event actually started), we were lucky to yak with Andrew Hemingway, Chair of the NH Republican Leadership Institute:
First Annual Strong NH Conference: Introduction, Invocation, and Jordon Sekulow of the ACLJ
After we had our interviews with Sam and Andrew, the actual event began with Paul Wescott, talk show host (formerly of WGIR AM 610 here in New Hampshire) began the event and acted as the Master of Ceremonies for the day. After his opening remarks, he introduced Cliff Hurst who gave the Invocation. Following that, … Read more
