THE CONSERVATIVES’ CAUCUS. A recently formed conservative group, the 603 Alliance, held its own summit at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua the day after the Republican Party finished its event. A wrap-up memo to supporters obtained by Primary Source reported that the “consensus among the group” was that “everybody is sick of losing and will support the GOP nominee and not stay home,” “Third party is definitely out” and “603 Alliance members will come together behind a conservative candidate and come up with a list of second, third and fourth choices.” The group intends to hold an Iowa-style caucus on Oct. 17 to “determine who the conservative candidate is.…Members will be encouraged to turn out 25,000 primary votes for the endorsed candidate.”

While no one questions the right of the Alliance – headed by some of the most prominent conservatives in the state – to hold such a caucus, GOP establishment-types are not happy at what appears to be an effort to choose a single candidate to challenge the likes of Jeb Bush, Chris Christie or perhaps John Kasich should he run.  “They’re all fine individuals and fine conservatives,” said a top party activist, “but that’s not how the primary operates. All of these candidates are pretty capable in their own right.”

603 Alliance Grassroot Summit – NH State Rep Frank Edelblut & Mike Rogers for Ambassador Gregory Slayton

NH State Rep Frank Edelblut then took the stage at Sunday’s 603 Alliance Grassroot Summit at the Crowne Plaza in Nashua; his message was about conservative legislation efforts in the NH House.  Former Ambassador Gregory Slayton was slated to be next but could not attend (at the last moment); Mike Rogers stood in for him to bring his message of support for the 603 Alliance.

603 Alliance Grassroot Summit – Aaron Day & Ann Marie Banfield

Chair of the RLCNH and the Stark 360 PAC, Aaron Day, came to the stage next to talk about both the PAC and the end goal of why this conservative collaboration of getting behind a candidate so as not to repeat the sad lessons of when squishes split the middle of two (or more) conservative candidates.  Ann Marie Banfield, educational liaison for Cornerstone Action came to educate the crowd about why the efforts to put Common Core into NH is a bad idea.

603 Alliance Grassroot Summit – Sharon Angle and Bill O’Brien

603 Alliance Grassroot Summit: the Conservative kick-off of the 2016 Presidential Primary.  Sure, the NH GOP had their big shindig the two days prior to Sunday’s event in which the “second campaign” has started in earnest – the wooing, attracting, and snaring of NH “name” activists by either the announced or coy Republican Prez wannabees.  That’s fine – they want either the organizers or influencers on their side.  The 603 Alliance is different – along with other like minded groups (if what I see out in the blogosphere is correct), Conservatives are no longer content to watch a moderate win primaries when multiple Conservative candidates split that wing’s vote multiple ways – much to the detriment of all.  These speakers (and previous, and following) understand this.  As well as the committed attendees.

Sharon Angle, best known for her attempt to beat the current US Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (attempt: the Establishment Republicans decided to pull their support from her), was also a long term state level politician in Nevada.  Bill O’Brien needs little in the way of introduction here in NH: NH State Representative, former Speaker of the NH House, and stalwart Conservative, and fearless:

603 Alliance Grassroot Summit – Dr. Betsy McCaughey and Jack Kimball

Phew!  I’m still not through processing the videos from Sunday’s 603 Alliance Grassroot Summit but I’ve done enough to start posting them up.  Pretty much all day, too, without running out!  The first speaker was nationally known (and ‘Grok fave) Dr. Betsy McCaughey, Constitutional scholar and Obamacare expert and was followed by Jack Kimball (former chair of the Granite State Patriots, NH GOP Chair, and candidate for NH Governor).  Betsy spoke on the Constitutional violations now occurring under the Obama Administration while Jack spoke of Individual Rights and Liberties

 So, a church would be able to control its facilities – how big of Lindsey Graham on his definition of Religious Freedom.

“But nobody doing business should be allowed to discriminate against another American.  At the end of the day, you’re trying to protect religious freedom, the right to be able to follow your conscience religiously but the goal is not to discriminate against people.  If you are traveling, you want to stay someplace to eat, you know go to eat, rent a hotel, you should be able to do so regardless of your sexual preference.”

Daniel Fortin – accomplishes BreatheNH’s purposes but not by persuasion of the public

Naw, this head honcho of Breath New Hampshire shows that he’s failed.  That’s right, failed.  He can’t do his job to persuade you and I to stop doing what he thinks we should not.  Another NGO Nanny, this one is.  He has an Op-Ed in the (wait for it….wait for it – the Paper of Record For NH Nannies) Concord Monitor.

Fortunately, New Hampshire was one of the first states to prohibit the sale of e-cigarettes to minors under 18, and Breathe NH is proud to have been instrumental, along with members of our New Hampshire Youth Network, in helping to pass this law in 2010.

Yup, we couldn’t persuade (or, more likely, trust) stores to voluntarily restrict themselves to selling this merchandise.  Nor persuading parents to monitor their children (no trust there either – mere parents (/sarc)).  And with this, he admits he’s absolutely helpless in doing the same to his actual target audience.  Given the absolute failure, he turns to the force of law.  What a way to be a do-gooder.

But wait!  There’s hope – and once again, he turns to Government FIRST for future answers, so satisfied that only what Government blesses should be tried:

Even as the Mexican politicians want us to take more of their illegal aliens

illegal alien signAnd call us racists when those of us that value The Rule of Law refuse and fight the entrance of their illegal aliens into our country.  Xenophobes, they say.  Racists, they shout.  Bigots, they believe.  Until it comes to themselves:

MEXICO CITY – A caravan of 290 migrants led by Rev. Alejandro Solalinde left the southeastern Mexican town of Ixtepec on a journey to Mexico City, a march being closely monitored by police, the activist priest told Efe.

After departing on Wednesday morning, the group covered a distance of 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) to El Espinal, a hamlet just outside Juchitan de Zaragoza. Numerous security forces were deployed between those latter two towns in Oaxaca state

On April 10, the Mexican government notified Solalinde that any undocumented foreigners marching in the caravan will be deported.

Authorities also established checkpoints on the roads leading out of Ixtepec and have sought to impede the protest march since last week.

Concord Monitor drops their curtain: whose money is it really?

Yes, yesterday was Tax Day – the day that Progressives celebrate as the epitome of their philosophy of “it’s ours, stupid” (and give thanks to its sub-holiday, the  Current Tax Payment Act of 1943 which allowed the Feds to automatically take your money).  Your money?  The Feds’ money?  So, the Concord Monitor; where do YOU think it stands on this.  Yeah, I know, you get 1 guess and it doesn’t count (full editorial after the jump).  A couple of quick snippets to help your guess:

  • The home mortgage interest deduction tops our list. It costs the Treasury about $75 billion per year...Most of this tax break goes to people who don’t need it
  • Those deductions cost the Treasury nearly $60 billion per year and their fairness is questionable
  • That tax break costs the feds about $150 million a year in lost revenue

See?  Now you know where the Concord Monitor stands on who should have first dibs on the money YOU earn.  By building the phrasing “costs the Treasury” in that fashion, the implication is Government should come first, should be placed first, before you and your family.  Not ONCE in its editorial is from WHOM is that money being taken.  No ONCE is there any outrage of how Government misspends that money.  Not once is there any compassion that perhaps, just perhaps, the people from whom that money is being taken just might actually need it more.
