Translation: you will be assimilated.  Personal, individual faith must be disregarded – and then discarded.  After last week’s homosexual marriage decision by the Supremes, Obama made it patently clear that it is the Progressive thought is the only acceptable one.  Heck, we’ve been warned with the HHS abortifacient mandate, even applying to the elderly nuns of the Catholic order of The Little Sisters of the Poor.  He said:

I know that Americans of good will continue to hold a wide range of views on this issue. Opposition, in some cases, has been based on sincere and deeply held beliefs. All of us who welcome today’s news should be mindful of that fact and recognize different viewpoints, revere our deep commitment to religious freedom.

Yeah – this is why he is always misquoting the First Amendment.

As Grokster Susan (and my Youngest) say often: indeed.  Forget about that pop culture is now telling us – raising a son, even a normal one (with both sons being ADHD, I’ll never know what the “easier side” of raising such was like) is not easy.  Pop culture says to indulge YOURSELF – and let them do what they want.  Nonsense!  When you and your husband made to decision that could lead to having a baby boy, you owned that responsibility come hell or high water (or sometimes, both, and more).  I came across this post a while ago on what I considered a good start of raising that son, and this lady said it well: best results start with choosing well with his father (emphasis mine):

They are touching, and bring a smile to your face, a touch of nostalgia, and perhaps even a tear to your eye. We mamas of little boys have a tough job. We deserve a little smile as we ponder our muddy offspring. As I type this, my just recently de-mudded grandson is graciously allowing me a few minutes to recoup from a busy day of swimming, mud bogging, dump trucking, and hugging stinky dogs. His sister hung right in there with him. So, yes, we even need these moments that tell our hearts that our efforts are special moments that will unfold in a story book life for our beloved sons.

However, we also need some harder truths, and now is a good time to take a look at that. So, here’s my version, for what it’s worth.

The blog Everyday Feminism recently re-published an article explaining the idea of “trigger warnings” to those of us who are not as culturally literate and sensitive as they are, and began it with the following disclaimer:

However, we use the phrase “content warning” instead of “trigger warning,” as the word “trigger” relies on and evokes violent weaponry imagery. This week, we have twice seen Supreme Court justices violating their judicial oaths. Yesterday, the justices rewrote Obamacare, yet again, in order to force this failed law on the American people. Today, the Court doubled down with a 5–4 opinion that undermines not just the definition of marriage, but the very foundations of our representative form of government.Both decisions were judicial activism, plain and simple. Both were lawless.

As Justice Scalia put it regarding Obamacare, “Words no longer have meaning if an Exchange that is not established by a State is ‘established by the State.’ . . . We should start calling this law SCOTUSCare.” And as he observed regarding marriage, “Today’s decree says that . . . the Ruler of 320 million Americans coast-to-coast is a majority of the nine lawyers on the Supreme Court.”

Sadly, the political reaction from the leaders of my party is all too predictable. They will pretend to be incensed, and then plan to do absolutely nothing.

That is unacceptable.

I heard this information on the radio while doing errands with TMEW but the Washington Examiner also has the news:

The owners of Ben & Jerry’s have a sweet new deal for proponents of gay marriage.

In celebration of today’s 5-4 Supreme Court ruling that states must allow and recognize gay marriage, the popular ice cream company announced on it’s website Friday that it is renaming its Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream flavor to “I Dough, I Dough” for the summer.

It will be available at participating Ben & Jerry’s locations nationwide, and also online via the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual civil rights organization.

All sales proceeds will go to benefit that organization.

Now that the Supreme Court has ruled that everyone has a constitutional right to marry anyone (or anything), I have come to a huge decision. I have decided to marry bacon.

I’ve been struggling with this for a long time and never told anyone. As I think about it, I’ve had a preoccupation for pork since I was 12. I think God made me to spend the rest of my life with bacon. I’ve decided that I love bacon and you do not choose who you love. And since I am not a Jew, and Jesus never specifically mentioned or prohibited marrying bacon, I think I’m good.

When asked by Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday about the homosexual marriage decision made by the Supreme Court on whether or not this could lead to polygamy or polyamory, once again Ted Olsen slithers away from directly answering the question: “What about three people marrying or varieties of arrangements?”

Yes, and I think with respect to the Chief Justice, I think the Chief Justice is wrong.  He bought into a red herring.  There are reasons why the States and the Federal Government might prohibit relationships, marriage relationships in multiple persons, the rights of children and what happens when the marriage breaks up but the test is, what does the State have in its interest to prohibit the conduct that’s being considered.  The States that were involved in the case that was decided Friday could not come up with any good reasons why to prohibit a person to marry the person of the same sex, the person that they loved.  Well, they came up with “well, its against traditional marriage”.  Well, that’s like saying separate schools were a tradition. Or restrictions on marriage between people of different backgrounds was a tradition.  You can’t explain something by saying its always the way we’ve done it.

She did what the Republicans in both the House and Senate refused to do:

Hassan vetoes budget; will sign 6-month spending plan

Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan officially vetoed the $11.3 billion state budget Thursday morning, setting the stage for several more months of partisan debate over the state’s next two-year spending plan.

…Hassan will soon sign a six-month temporary funding resolution that will keep government running at existing spending levels while lawmakers hammer out a new budget compromise. The current $10.7 billion state budget is set to expire June 30.

You get that?  Maggie Hassan will now only be allowed to spend at this year’s budget.  NO INCREASE.  Not a single dime more.  Not one thin penny.  And this Democrat did this to Government?  Heavens above!  She’s going to spend at the same rate.  And she did it to herself – willingly signing that fiscally limiting veto.  Yet, the Republican Party is supposed to be the Party of smaller government.  Well, even with a veto to spend the same (until she gets all that she wants), I still see a $600 million rise from this session to the next in the Republican budget – that is NOT smaller government.

But Skip, it is LESS than what Hassan wanted – can’t you give them a break?

I’ve said for years that Society could be analogized as a wall – standing tall and strong.  Still true if you pull out the random brick from here and there, it still holds.  Continue to do so and it starts weaving a bit like a skyscraper in a hurricane; continue to do so and targeting the “important” bricks, and we all know what will happen.  Liberty Unyielding believes we have hit the “too many yanked bricks” time (emphasis mine):

Legal minds will write more detailed briefs about the ins and outs of the decision in King v. Burwell.  But what’s more important at this turning point is a sense of history, and what it means for a people when its last governmental refuge for black-letter understanding self-detonates.

We know that the legislature and the executive already abandoned reason, process, and good faith in creating the Obamacare monster.  The Supreme Court has now very clearly done the same.
