I sought this consent today to apologize. To apologize for not having a ready answer. For the record, I will be mentioning the Bible, but only because someone else brought it up first. Back when we were debating SB 302, I commented to a fellow representative that I would probably vote for it, if only because I saw it as a chance to roll back socialism, at least a little bit. He challenged me with words to the effect of, “whats wrong with socialism, doesn’t society have an obligation to take care of those in need.” On another prior occasion a representative said to me that Christianity was socialist. In neither case did I rebut these as I ought to have, so it is at least partially in penance that I am here before you today.

Pedro Cerame: Pedro, Pedro, Pedro – a second attempt at extortion (first one here)?  Really?  Is this the result of a failure on that first attempt – none of the Governors were impressed? Shouldn’t you know that threatening other States’ elected officials and their budgets is childish at best and thuggish in reality?  Doing it AGAIN shows that either YOU are crooked or that your CULTURE is – or both. Last time you only threatened Governors and their budgets; your Sword of Damocles was the threat of your citizens fleeing your State and going right onto THEIR doles.

Sidenote: it seems that the idea that your citizens, already on your dole, would move to become the wards of another State is…..puzzling.  Shouldn’t your efforts, instead of threatening others, be oriented in making PR a business powerhouse?  Or is that also a function of your culture?

This says a lot about your State and not just that the Federal money is about to run out (guess you didn’t pay much heed to Margaret Thatcher warning) that it has no problem in ruining others’?  What does this say about the morality of your leadership team (aka, your boss)?

The Left screams about “cultural appropriation” all the time – but why do they throw OUR culture away any time it collides with another?

Shades of Ruth Bader-Ginsburg writ small and sideways. All over the Right side of the blogosphere I keep hearing whispers “are we heading towards a civil war”? It is quite obvious that this nation is split and I would agree that the crevice is becoming a chasm.  The Right is going back to our American roots (e.g., the Constitution and the philosophy underpinning it) and the Left is insistent on adhering on latching on to foreign political ideas (again, what IS the difference between Democrats and Socialists).  Our moralities are different (Judeo-Christian vs “if it feels good / anything BUT Judeo-Christian), our sense of independence / dependency is incompatible, our outlook on The Proper Role of Government are in different galaxies, and now – our Law (reformatted, emphasis mine):

President Trump has often said that Mexico would pay for the Wall where the purpose is to stop (or at least, slow down) illegal immigration on our Southern border.  He’s consistently held to this even as everyone else has either bashed the idea (the Open Borders addicts, “the establishment”, or the illegal alien apologists) or rolled their eyes (“you expect to get that passed, here, in DC??”). I’ve always thought that the Wall should be built and the Law enforced.  While everyone else was saying that it would be impossible, I knew it was a rather simple thing.  Not complicated, not devious – rather straight forward, actually.  Just tax the remittances being sent back to Mexico.  Simple, eh?  And if you did it with a sufficiently high tax, you could accomplish two things: build the wall fast and act as a huge and perverse incentive to come here simply to work (as opposed to becoming an American).

Sure, too high and the remittances will go down (like when Democrats raise money grubbing taxes and regulations on companies and we watch jobs go away) but take that as a good thing because it means that illegal immigration is also down (and yes, I know that legal immigrants do the same thing – but that can be taken care of).

But it would take one HUGE thing that often time is lacking in DC – the political will to do so.  My, my, two CongressCritters have manned up to do exactly that – a bill to tax remittances heading to Mexico (reformatted, emphasis mine):

As it currently stands, the budget will exceed $12 billion for the first time ever. The cost of running state government will be about $9,000 for every man, woman, and child in NH. Is your family getting its money’s worth? Those are pretty large increases, given the current rate of inflation (under 2%).  I’ve always maintained that the increase of Government should never be larger than that of the average person’s rise in income.  Which in most cases, is right around the rate of inflation.  And was to we get as reasoning From the UL:

This teenager certainly needed it (reformatted, emphasis mine):

BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -Three teenagers were killed Monday, shot by a man as they were breaking into his home. Officers say it happened at a home near 91st and Clearview Drive in Wagoner County. The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office said the homeowner and his adult son were in the home when three males wearing masks and gloves tried to break in at about 12:30 p.m. The homeowner’s son shot the intruders with a rifle, deputies said, killing all three.

“These three individuals came to this residence with the intent to burglarize it,” Deputy Nick Mahoney said, “One was with brass knuckles, the other one was with a knife.”

Breaking and entering.  Brass knuckles aren’t used for love taps and I bet that knife wasn’t going to be used to carve a heart with an arrow through it on the mantle.  No, these “Smart as a dead rock” thieves meant to do harm to those that wanted to protect themselves and their castle.  However, it does seem they proved that old adage of “Never bring a knife to a gun fight”, especially if you are the one starting it.

“Effective as of Dec. 31, 2017, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is repealed, and the provisions of law amended or repealed by such Act are restored or revived as if such Act had not been enacted,” the bill states.

None of that pussy footing around, no politicalese, fulfill’s a campaign promise in fullness – and no “hiding the boots” in arcane language that makes a bill appear to be something that it is not (which last week’s Republican debacle of a process and bill did).
