So Many Australians Are Claiming ‘Jedi’ as Their Religion That It’s Becoming a Problem

Couldn’t happen to a better set of sad sacks.  Sure, “Jedi” might be a made up religion like Pastafaranians, but who are they to say there is no God and demand that Government disregard others?  Just so that Australia can be seen as “less religious”?  Is this proselytizing in reverse – or passive-aggressive bullying?

A battle over government, religion, and Star Wars is brewing in Australia. The country will hold their national census on August 9 and a group of people is begging their fellow citizens to not put “Jedi” down as their religion.

Here’s the problem: On the 2011 census (it takes places every five years) 64,390 Australians put “Jedi” down as their religion, an increase of from 58,053 on the 2006 census, according to The Brisbane Times. Numbers like that put “Jedi” right behind Sikh on the list of religions in the country. It seems unlikely that all these people truly believe themselves to be actual Jedi, and most of them make the claim as a harmless way to declare their Star Wars fandom and give the government the middle finger at the same time.

No, no about climate change this time.  No, it’s not about food and what the government keeps telling us what’s good for us and what’s not (butter bad…no good….fats bad….fats good….carbs good….carbs bad….sheesh).  But now it is flipping on the stuff they said we were supposed to do IF we were eating good or bad (reformatted, emphasis mine):

And you wonder why Government can’t get anything done?  It won’t allow you to get rid of the stuff you don’t want that ya bought with that “free money”.  When are our local chucklehead politicians and bureaucrats learn and internalize that taking your citizens’ tax monies siphoned and recirculated by some government entity is just a bad idea for the future?

I’ve railed about my hamlet’s adverse problems with stuff built long ago and now it’s turned out to just raise the local property tax when a private sector entity would have just said “raze it, it just isn’t worth it anymore”.  Betcha Meredith (NH) is wishing they were private as they just got caught by the short…

Behold – they all hate “involved” parents influence of their children:

A spokeswoman for the Planned Parenthood affiliate in Alaska is criticizing the state’s new sex education restrictions that require the curriculum to be approved by local school districts and open to review by parents.

Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest and Hawaii spokeswoman Jessica Cier said the legislation — which is becoming law without Gov. Bill Walker’s signature — is a “crushing blow for comprehensive and medically accurate sexual health education” because it will invite considerable scrutiny of the curriculum by parents and local boards of education.

Like I’ve said before, who owns my children?  According to Cier, it ain’t me and it ain’t you.  And look at that Progressive rail about Power being decentralized – why, how DARE they?  And don’t those local BoEs and parents just KNOW they are absolute rubes that that know nothing?  WE is the experts!

That last phrase courtesy of Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit.  We talked briefly about this state of affairs of the so-called “Press” and their utter contempt towards Republicans and then, Conservatives and Libertarians (Do NOT confuse the latter two groups with the first – I posit that fewer and fewer Republicans are Conservatives (even as they all call themselves that) and can’t stand Libertarians).

Two weeks ago at the Republican National Convention (RNC) a grieving mother blasted Hillary Clinton for the debacle of the 2012 Benghazi attack. Last Thursday, at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), grieving parents gave a speech criticizing Donald Trump for his statements against Muslims.

While all the grieving parents deserve sympathy, the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) network evening and morning shows seemed to only care about the parents that showed up at the Democratic Convention. Khizr Khan and his wife Ghazla’s DNC appearance earned 55 minutes, 13 seconds of Big Three network coverage, nearly 50 times more than Pat Smith, whose RNC speech honoring her son earned just 70 seconds of airtime.

Progressives and Statists can no longer diagram sentences (or so it seems) in determining subordinate clauses and that’s why they just can’t accept that we have an individual Right to bear arms enumerated by the Second Amendment (but preceding its writing).  So let us remind them who the militia really are (and they should also go back in time to learn the definition of “regulated” when the Constitutions were written instead of it now being defined as an action of Government). Thus, as we briefly talked about on the show, I much prefer these two Articles from the NH Constitution:

[Art.] 2-a. [The Bearing of Arms.] All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state.

I, once again, direct you to the testimony of Ian Underwood when anti-gunners were deciding to NOT obey our Founding Law themselves (“It doesn’t say ‘some‘ persons. It doesn’t say ‘approved‘ persons. It doesn’t say ‘persons who don’t scare us’. It says ‘all persons’….The first is that a bill like this undermines respect for the very rule of law itself. After all, if the legislature isn’t going to respect the limits placed on it by the NH Constitution, then why should individuals respect the limits placed on them by that legislature… In other words, if you can behave as if ‘all’ doesn’t mean ‘all’, why can’t I behave as if ‘not’ doesn’t mean ‘not’?”).

[Right of Revolution.] Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. I’ve already written a bit out the “lovely” “Republican Republicans for the sake of the Republican Party” (versus, you know, Republican and Constitutional ideals) Betty Tamposi (here, here, here, and here) and her being in thrall with the idea of Hillary Clinton being president.  In her strange variant of the RRftsotRP country club, it is perfectly fine to support a Socialist Democrat, I guess, as long as it keeps “we Constitutional barbarians” (eg. those of us that swear fealty to those ideals instead of the Elite). And the sad thing, I’ve said this before: that the Elite leaders of the NH GOP are perfectly fine with going further and further Left as long as they held the reins of power. I know, I know, broken record time, but what better examples can I come up with than Republicans raising taxes (which they did here in NH with leading that charge for higher gas taxes) and implementing Obamacare (Jeb Bradley, Chuck Morse, Jeanne Forrester all trying valiantly to put lipstick on the very high priced ugly pig).

So Betty, I guess we can safely say, that in supporting Hillary, you also support all of these things she said during the Democrat Convention as solid goals for the country?  Please, I really want to know – HOW are these “Republican” ideals?

Or is it the case that we can no longer tell how Republicans differ from Socialist as well, Betty? After all, you made the case for Hillary as a fine, upstanding, life-long Republican, right?  From Conservative Review:
