Yep, after three three-year terms, this is the last budget season for me based on a promise I made to TMEW. New members are on-board, sub-committees member assignments are done and the scramble to set appointments with the department heads is already in gear. By the middle of January, each budget for each municipality and school district department / school will be done. My part in this will be:
- Town – Administration
- Town – Finance
- Town – Police
- School District – Technology (big surprise, eh?)
- School District – Food Service
- School District – District Wide (sorta like Town Administration, above)
Lots of running around, lots of late nights, and hours of scanning the numbers. Plus, given that ALL things related to Government are political in nature, politics will also play a part as well. Like in the past, I’ll try to remember to record all the meetings. Perhaps get back to livestreaming them as well on GilfordGrok which has now been resurrected.
All in all, I’m betting I’ll miss it next year but 9 years has been enough and it will be enough to fulfill my promise to TMEW (er, no mas!). I’ve been lucky to have made several large differences over the years. I think I’ve left the situation better for taxpayers than if I had never run but I’ll leave that final judgement to others.
