Bad Sununu

There is “Good Sununu” and there is “Bad Sununu”. Good Sununu is the Governor who does things like vetoing subsidies for Big-Solar. Bad Sununu is the Governor who does things like this:

It is important to understand that SB 279 does NOT work the way described by the State Senate DemocRATS. More specifically, the DemocRATS make it sound like the consumer will have the option of purchasing fertility coverage. Actually, SB 279 eliminates consumer choice.

In order to obtain health insurance, affected consumers (the Obamacare exchanges are exempted – RSA 417-G:2, IV), will have to pay for fertility insurance (along with all the other mandates that State government has imposed). In other words, it’s just the opposite of the Liberty Mutual commercial: “Liberty Mutual customizes your car insurance so you only pay for what you need.”

This is essentially Socialism. The cost of providing fertility coverage is spread over all health insurance consumers (with exception noted above), as opposed to being borne by those who utilize the coverage. Moreover, as good Socialists do, State government exempted itself from the cost of this new mandate. From the minority report: “Ironically, the senate removed the non-group market from the bill because, under the Affordable Care Act, the state would have had to fund this mandate. Instead only small businesses must foot this mandate. It is little wonder why New Hampshire has never passed this legislation since first being studied 28 years ago and introduced as proposed legislation 19 years ago.”

Health insurance is not stratospherically expensive because of the “greedy health insurance companies”:

The real culprit is government giving us “free stuff.”
