The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified."
– President Barack Obama, Inauguration, 1/20/09
When I came across this, I just shook my head – $200K to be a lifeguard? With over $100K retirement at 50 years old? Yeah, good jobs at good wages – at taxpayer expense:
Look, once again, at the individual contributor level, if you can find it, do it, get paid for it – it’s not about the lifeguard. However, it IS ALL about the elected and appointed officials blithely agreeing to such a package. Sure, it takes much more skill and ability than being one at the average municipal pool or here at the Town beach on the Big Lake, but really – $200K better??
And they wonder why companies are fleeing California and the govts there are broke…
