Obama Declared 12 “National Emergencies” and Ten of Them are Still in Effect

Having declared the abuse of the national emergency as unconstitutional let us at least admit that so is almost everything else the government does. Most folks don’t know or care. The media only cares when it’s a president. More specifically a president Trump. Because Mr. Obama declared a dozen National emergencies and ten of those are still (presumably) sucking resources for something.

Who knew?

From ABC news, care of Godfather Politics has a list of 31 national emergencies declared by past presidents that are still in effect. Carter has one. Bill Clinton owns a half-dozen.GWB can claim eleven, two of which relate to 9/11.

Ten of the active National Emergencies, belong to Obama.

Most of them, regardless of President, have something to do with international conflict and property or persons. Not exactly sexy. But it happens. And as Warner Huston reminds us here, “when the media and the Never Trumpers pretend that Trump’s border declaration is “unprecedented” and “dangerous,” ignore their claims because it’s not a new concept at all.”
