The fact that the post also includes knocks against Wal-mart seems be a mere bonus for this person:
Brenda Speaks, a Ward 4 ANC commissioner, actually urged blocking construction of the planned store in her ward at Georgia and Missouri avenues NW partly because of that risk. Addressing a small, anti-Wal-Mart rally at City Hall on Monday, Speaks said young people would get criminal records when they couldn’t resist the temptation to steal.
Right – we cannot allow a big retailer that would bring jobs into a poor urban area because "our youths" cannot responsibly restrain their urges to "redistribute the wealth" from others to themselves. What a patriarchal matriarchal Nanny State Progressive attitude to have: you all are but little children that we must watch over and take care of.
Again, it puts the condescending airs that Zandra Rice-Hawkins into perspective, doesn’t it – always thinking the BEST of people!
Note: it may seem that lately we are picking on poor Progressive Ms. Rice-Hawkins. You would be correct! Why, you might ask? From my standpoint, she seems to be the perfect foil as being the prototypical Progressive: actions, philosophy, and haughtiness.
