Welcome to your Thursday, Groktober 8th, 2026, morning update.

Like every other government program, SNAP is riddled with waste, fraud, and abuse.

The point of the program was, of course, to allow regular American citizens in need to obtain nutritious food. We didn’t want anybody to starve. But over time it has become a fraud machine, abused by states, the stores that accept it, and the people on SNAP.

Fixing it requires fraud investigations of which there have been many, many thousands, at least since Donald Trump took back the White House, and thousands of arrests. As well as taking innumerable vendors off the list of places where food stamps EBT SNAP could be laundered.

SNAP is meant to be a way to provide nutritious food. But the program has become more or less a cash machine for anyone who knows how to work the system.

With that in mind, the feds decided that it was time to; time to make the states take at least a little bit more responsibility for their mishandling of taxpayers’ funds. Let’s just call it those strings that certain people love so very much.

Starting in fiscal year 2028, states that have payment error rates between 6 and 8% of their total SNAP spending will be required to pay 5% of the costs of SNAP benefits in their state. Without swift improvements in program administration.

New Hampshire will be one of those states, and we are. My state’s error rate is within that margin. And I don’t think we’ve made the improvements the one big beautiful bill required. So now we have to pay for past mistakes.

Your state as well, and I didn’t look, but based on all the fraud investigations I’ve heard about, I’m pretty sure just about every state is paying a little bit more for their indifference.

New Hampshire, for example, is paying more for SNAP for the first time in fifty-two years.

Quote: State responsibility for funding SNAP has increased for the first time since 1974. Starting in October, states are responsible for 75% of SNAP’s administrative costs, up from 50% before October. The October 1st changes also include expanded working requirements, older adults up to the age of 64, and parents of teens will be required to prove they work or volunteer at least eighty hours a month.

Yes, that includes you, Brad.

I’m convinced it should be more because that’s how you get the state and the program in line. If the state doesn’t take responsibility for how it spends somebody else’s money, it’s going to have to explain to me why it now has to spend more of mine locally.

Obviously, the federal money is ours as well, but the further you get the money from the person, the less responsibility everybody seems to have. That’s why the Proglodytes like to move everything as far away from you as possible. Tie it up in federal strings and put it somewhere where you can’t get at it.

Decades of abuse, trillions in fraud across the entire welfare system. And the indifference before Donald Trump to do much, if anything, about it. That’s no accident.

The more dependence you can get on the hook, the more likely they are to vote to protect their goodies from the government. And to vote against anyone opposed to turning everything into some kind of socialized welfare program.

And then the government can tie you up with strings the same way it ties up the states. You dance to their tune or snap, there go your benefits.

And if the response to COVID is any example, and it is the big government welfare state, especially under democrat rule, would happily get you p fired, blacklisted, censored, and maybe even subject to mob justice for failing or refusing to do what you’re told.

That’s it for today.

I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
