Independent Media Matters

Independent media matters most when it says what other outlets won’t. That’s why Granite Grok exists. And it’s why Bare Minimum Books fits so naturally with it.

Both are built around the same idea: Question assumptions. Follow evidence. Think clearly. Speak plainly.

We’re putting together a July fundraiser that brings both together.

GraniteGrok and Bare Minimum Books

One of the most common reactions to Bare Minimum Books is:

“I never thought about it that way before.”

That’s the point. The books are designed to challenge defaults, expose hidden assumptions, and make complicated issues understandable without oversimplifying them.

GraniteGrok.com looks for stories, events, and angles on issues that no one else is covering. Not just because no one else thought about it that way, but also to affirm that there are people like you who are thinking that way. You are not alone, and you are free to think outside their box and to disagree about what’s in the box, outside it, or the box itself.

And we are truly independent media. From ads to sponsors to however our readers choose to support independent voices, it all keeps the content coming, but it never translates to editorial influence. Unlike every other outlet, be they print or digital, the people, organizations, or campaigns that advertise or invest in them impact their ability to publish content that might jeopardize those financial relationships.

We have never, nor will we ever, allow that to control what we publish.

You are not alone in your pursuit of truth, transparency, or a desire to protect free speech, and something special is coming this July (and not just the 250th Birthday of America. Supporters of Granite Grok will get the opportunity to support independent thinkers and receive independent thinking.
