MACDONALD: What Dems Actually Need ‘On Campus’

Two days before Christmas, 2025, we shared what I thought was one of the dumbest names for an activist group in recent memory. The bumbling DNC announced its “effort” to compete with Turning Point USA on Campus.

How is that not like saying you need to add seawater to the ocean?

One of the reasons Turning Point was so popular was that it was everything the progressive campus monopoly was not. It wasn’t woke; it didn’t suppress opposing speech; it valued differing opinions and promoted discussion and debate because it believed that was the best way to help young minds understand both simple and complex issues. It opened doors and minds to a message beyond the prison of progressivism that dominated the White Tower, higher-ed, and left-wing dominance.

Even if you didn’t like the other side, Kirk and Turning Point were inviting you to disagree with them and everyone else, which was little more than the lip service you got anywhere else on the average college campus.

The Democratic National Committee, seeing the dangerous upswell of support for Kirk and Christianity and compassionate communication, all things they abhor, came up withThe National Youth Coordinated Table.” Existing groups from high school, college, and so on would be consolidated under a coordinated umbrella group to

“…to train “hundreds, if not more,” young Americans for Democratic campaign work and activist organizing.

Which sounds like everything Democrats already do, but I don’t think that’s what “they/them” were looking for. Bernie Bros, and I guess this is true to form, are launching their own thing.

A liberal media outlet founded by advisers to Sen. Bernie Sanders launched a project Monday to counter Turning Point USA’s growing conservative influence and presence on college campuses.

More Perfect University, created by the advocacy journalism nonprofit More Perfect Union, will focus on recruiting and training liberal content creators on campuses across the country, organizers said. …

The new effort will have three main components: on-campus events, including live interviews, debates and podcast tapings; a national digital community on email and Discord; and students trained to produce a pipeline of stories for the organization’s online platforms. The organization said it plans to prioritize public and working-class campuses.

Without looking, how many woke left-wing on-campus groups are already doing these things? Maybe, all of them?

And, More Perfect University?

I’m not saying it won’t be effective. In fact, I’d bet More Perfect Unions’ budget that this is little more than an excuse to pay anyone with an audience to regurgitate the approved messaging. Like David Brock’s fake “local” news sites. Flood the zone with pro-Democrat messaging and anti-Republican opposition research disguised as non-partisan media.

Maybe not always disguised.

Good for whoever gets paid, and young people don’t watch TV news like their ideological forebearers, so it’s not a bad idea. Not that there isn’t enough proglodyte drivel in the media diet. The internet is built to funnel you into a corner and keep you there clicking like a gibbon on crack.

And didn’t Kamala’s campaign have celebrity endorsements?

So, I guess the next question is, who else is going to come up with yet another “campus” focused waste of time and money to propagandize already liberal heads full of mush? And will they all recycle the same pro-political-violence rhetoric that keeps a string of “shooters” aimed at anyone they’ve been told is a Nazi, hater, bigot, supremacist, blah blah blah.

Yes!

Two things remain constant in the world of left-wing politics. The outcomes are always the opposite of what they promise, and angry, violent youth movements are essential to achieving those ends.

The More Perfect Union looks like a despotism run from DC over the remains of what was once the American Republic. That has been a century-long goal, but if you want those college-aged men to show up at your thing instead of Turning Points’, you don’t need more activism groups. You need to stop framing them as useless, criminal, rapist, and colonizers. And maybe teach young liberal women how not to be such intolerable harpies.

Conservative girls are way more attractive on multiple relationship dimensions. So, what you might need is a protégée college girl finishing school. Teach them to hide the crazy, which will be difficult because the left will have to include men who pretend to be women, alongside blue-haired crook-wearing overweight feministas, and neither of those are things you can hide with a few bucks and some lessons.

So, good luck to you. Thank you for wasting money you could have given to candidates on these projects. And I’d expand the gun-free zone meeting rules to knives and blunt objects, just in case.
