MACDONALD: Another Left Wing “Hero” Convicted of Fraud

Local BLM activist Monica Cannon-Grant is a local New England elite who won Bostonian of the year. Praise was heaped on her for expeditiously “deporting” a plane full of illegal immigrants from her Island shortly after a plane landed and couched up two score and ten filthy foreign peasants onto the ritzy Martha’s Vineyard tarmac.

She was indicted and charged with fraud not too long after.

Cannon-Grant allegedly defrauded the City of Boston out of COVID-19 relief funds and rental assistance money, defrauded the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office out of Community Reinvestment Grant funds, filed false tax returns and failed to file tax returns for two years.

BLM. Fraud. I’m actually surprised they charged her, and then (surprise!) convicted her. How dare you!

Boston Magazine called her  “the best social justice advocate in Boston.” The Boston City Council congratulated her while the Boston Celtics labeled her a hero. The Globe’s Bostonian of the year (even though she didn’t live in Boston). [Related: “Bostonians of The Year” Are Vineyard Elites Who Perp-Walked Illegals Off Their Island Within 48-Hours]

NO backsies!

In September 2025, Cannon-Grant pleaded guilty to 18 counts: three counts of wire fraud conspiracy; 10 counts of wire fraud; one count of mail fraud; two counts of filing false tax returns; and two counts of failing to file tax returns. In March 2023, Cannon-Grant was charged along with her co-conspirator and late husband, Clark Grant, in a 27-count superseding indictment.

Clark Grant’s charges were dismissed in May 2023 due to his death. Cannon-Grant and Clark Grant had previously been charged in an 18-count indictment in March 2022. …

“Ms. Cannon-Grant’s actions were crimes of greed and opportunity but will not go unpunished thanks to the law enforcement community, who have dedicated their mission to uncovering and putting an end to such devious schemes. This case illustrates that anyone who defrauds state programs and exploits their position in the community, will be held accountable for their actions.

Seriously? Held Accountable?

Monica Cannon-Grant, 44, of Taunton, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Angel Kelley to four years’ probation, with six months of home detention and 100 hours of community service. She was also ordered to pay restitution of $106,003 as well as forfeiture in an amount to be decided at a later date.

She has to stay home, can’t defraud the government for four years, and gets fined. The asset forfeiture could be a problem for Monica. The Government loves to blame your property for things you did, especially if it can make a case that you acquired it with your ill-gotten gains. That excuse leads to them taking everything, and you having to go to court to prove that the property, long liquidated into local, county, or federal law enforcement funding, is innocent. Not a fan, but it’s a thing, and the threat of it is too. Most fraudsters, crooks, and ne’er-do-wells don’t consider it while negating their illicit behavior. And I have to admit, the idea of using it against the likes of Grant or (better yet) members of Congress who magically go from low-wage bartenders or incestuous Somali “refugees,” to politicians with tens of millions in assets makes me smile.

I’m not saying that’ll ever happen. Grant is low-hanging fruit who now realizes she should have opened a ‘learing’ center. Instead of the Massachusetts legal machinery making a tiny little example out of her, she could have had them defending her on CNN or MSNBC.

Though luck that.
