Unless you’re a brand new Granite Stater outside of Wheeler’s district, you ought to be familiar with Ms Melanie Levesque. While she’s not the only one who voted for an income tax, she’s the one who gets the most bent out of shape when her vote is mentioned. For those who care to learn more about that 2019 income tax bill, known at the time as SB1, it was presented as “family leave,” approved by both chambers of the Legislature from Hell (Donna Soucy’s Senate and Shurtleff’s House) and then vetoed by His Excellency.
Maine already has an income tax and most other political ills that come with a blue government, but family leave is soon to be added to that list. Outside of politics, Maine is actually a nice place and has much to offer. I used to be a regular visitor to some of my favorite places to spend time: Baxter State Park, Bar Harbor, Acadia, The Forks, and the Rangeley area, just to name a few. However, I digress because I’m guessing Ms. Melanie would prefer Portland or Augusta. No matter where on their map she prefers, I am willing to help her pack, even if it’s for Rumford(birthplace of Jeb) or Limestone(birthplace of Queen Sharon).
In the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many fine NH realtors, some private citizens and some current and former reps. If Ms. Melanie would like to sell her home, I would recommend Reps Vanessa Sheehan and Diane Kelley because of their proximity to Brookline.
As for pro tips on making the most of being a new Mainer, I would be pleased to introduce her to former Senator Eric Brakey, who would be a great networking resource in the Auburn-Lewiston area (District 20). Melanie might even like Lewiston better than Portland, but who am I to assume?
Lastly, one of the best offers, assuming it’s still good, is from former Rindge Rep Santonastaso, a helicopter pilot. His offer seen on social media was that he would give any NH leftist a free one-way helicopter ride out of the state in exchange for a vow never to return. As someone who’s logged in many miles and hours on the Maine Turnpike, I would point out that accepting that helicopter ride on a Friday afternoon in the summer would maximize its value.

And one last thought to consider: Janet Mills is term-limited, and someone has to step up to carry on her bidding. I don’t know the eligibility requirements to run for governor there, but instead, she could always be Shenna Bellows’s opponent. Scanlan might find that idea amusing.
