Helene turned out to be one nasty storm whose consequences were extreme in some unexpected places. That sort of thing tests people and systems, and while the folks appear to have risen to the occasion, as well as one Red State and its governor (Florida), the preferred system of the elites, the federal government, once again leaves us wanting.
Helene is gone. Hurricane Kirk is expected to get lost in the mid-Atlantic. Tropical storm Leslie – it’s too soon to tell. Tropical Depression Eleven-E could be a big problem, but it is early days—so good news and bad. There are no new immediate threats, but what Helene did isn’t going away for a while, and everyone knows Joe Biden is not only not in charge, but they don’t even fill him in on what they are doing in his name.
During a press conference, Biden was directly asked if he would send more troops amid escalating violence between Israeli and Hezbollah forces. He replied simply, “No.” Less than 24 hours later, the Pentagon announced a shift in strategy, confirming the deployment of additional troops.
That’s not a good look, and to be fair, they might have told Joe, and his dementia ran off with it, but whatever passes for leadership, it’s not Joe, which leaves Kamala, and the Helen mess appears to be her Hurricane Katrina.
The government she loves so much and would expand at the expense of states and people isn’t able to respond quickly or competently or even mobilized because the most affected areas are filled with Trump voters.
That’s speculation, but given the partisan injustice under Biden-Harris, it’s not an unsafe guess. If Kamala handles this the way she handled the border, it’s a bad look.
This is good for the election and Trump but bad for those who used to live in towns that are still underwater. The solution—in their proglodyte minds—is to blame you (global warming) and to grow the government.
Neither of those is a right, but only voters can begin solving the problem on a playing field rigged against them.
