Their families see that their Commander-in-Chief doesn’t care about his military

Especially for those whose lives were taken from them in a most violent way by Muslim terrorism on US soil.  This tweet, when compared to what Obama said after Trayvon Martin, Ferguson, and Baltimore, pretty much summaries what we have not heard and the failure of an official reaction to that sacrifice:

Or like Obama.  Or one of the other “protected classes” that the Left believes should now be more equal than others.  And instead of protecting our military, our military leadership in response to now credible and vocal threats against them, are leaving them as soft targets – from Gateway Pundit:

Pentagon Refuses to Arm Military Recruiters – Tells Them to “Close the Blinds”

Army chief of staff Gen. Ray Odierno said on Friday he has no plans to arm recruitersor add security patrols to military recruitment centers in the wake of the Islamist terror attacks on unarmed, unguarded military offices in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Thursday. Odierno basically said he doesn’t trust his troops to handle their weapons properly.

Also on Friday, the Marine Corps ordered recruiters to not wear their uniforms at work for ‘force protection.’

I am not surprised at the above once it became known that not even the US Flag lowered in respect.  After all, the military reports to Obama.

There is a quote that we have put up a couple of times here on the ‘Grok – Who is the militia?

“I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials.”
— George Mason, in Debates in Virginia Convention on Ratification of the Constitution, Elliot, Vol. 3, June 16, 1788

And now, we see that it is the civilian population, the irregular militia, that is stepping into the breach when our “Progressive Government” cannot (or, will not). From the Concord Patch (H/T: Tony Shinella):

NH Gun Shop Owner Guards Military Recruiting Station
UPDATE: Brian Blackden guards Armed Forces Career Center in Concord, protecting recruiters; Hassan spokesperson: Security being assessed.

A Concord gun shop owner is making both a political statement this morning as well as attempting to protect those who choose to serve in the wake of the murder of four Marines in Tennessee.

Brian Blackden of Pepper Defense Supply in Penacook stood outside of the Armed Forces Career Center on Loudon Road on July 20, 2015, standing guard in case of a possible terrorist attack against the capital city’s local recruiting office. He said he was both making a political statement and actually doing what citizens of the United States should be doing – protecting those who protect Americans against enemies that are foreign or domestic. Blackden also called on Gov. Maggie Hassan, D-Exeter, to allow military personnel in the state to be armed.

“It’s to support the military and to let the governor know that she needs to take action, like at least two other governors have done, and let them have firearms, so they can protect our liberties,” he said.

Indeed – I have seen this being replicated all over the country in that ordinary people coming voluntarily to fill a need that government isn’t filling:

“We are happy to report that in Wayne County such radicals not only must consider encountering armed law enforcement, but armed citizens as well.”

And in the minds of a lot of these folks, a government that might not (this from a Progressive Government that promises to meet all our needs).  These regular folks refuse to “not do right” – they understand the costs.  They also understand, given the almost constant din of ISIS’s call to terrorism here in the States, that they may be called to action.

Now, I am betting that many on the Left are scoffing at this “Look at those fools – making themselves targets all out in the open; they’ll die if that all but non-existent threat actually appears”. Maybe, maybe not.  But these people are willing to be that example, to lay down their lives for those that protect us.  I hardly believe that the Progressive Left can even begin to grok this – it is something that is completely outside their ken.  It is a sense of family, of obligation, of honor.  And more are joining:

The morning after a deadly attack on two military centers in Chattanooga, residents in Hiram are standing watch outside the local recruiting office with their personal firearms. It is their unique way of honoring the fallen Marines and they said to protect the lives of those who serve in the military.

“I teared up. I think any human being would be touched by what happened yesterday. Any U.S. citizen that has a heart and a soul to hear what had happened,” said Crystal Tewellow, who organized the watch.

Recruiting offices are designated as being “gun-free zones” which means officers working there cannot carry their sidearm into the building. Tewellow, whose son just enlisted and the army and has a brother who is a recruiter, felt compelled to organize the watch.

To think the people who are supposed to protect and serve us are unable to protect and serve… protect themselves,” said Tewellow. “So if us, the citizens, who carry permits, are able to help protect them that’s, that’s what we’re gonna be able to do.”
