Mercy Health Fires 347 Workers Due to Obamacare
Mercy Health announced Thursday it will fire 347 workers due to “increasing challenges to our reimbursement structure as we adjust to reductions mandated by the Affordable Care Act,” the company said in a statement. President and CEO of the Mercy system, Lynn Britton, said the Obamacare-induced layoffs are taking a toll on workers and their families.
“Changes such as these are difficult and distressing for everyone involved,” said Britton. “While our decisions support Mercy’s ability to stay strong and relevant in the face of challenges impacting all health care providers, today our thoughts and prayers are with those co-workers who are affected.” Mercy Health’s firings will take place across the four states in which the health system operates, which includes Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas.
Nationally, Obamacare remains deeply unpopular. The RealClearPolitics average of polls finds that just 43% of Americans support Obama’s signature legislative achievement. Obamacare will cost U.S. taxpayers $2.6 trillion over its first 10 years.
Remains unpopular EXCEPT for all those folks that get to have healthcare insurance at minimal costs – as Obama, Democrat politicians, and their bootlicking media proclaim, they are ecstatic about having little to no out of pocket premiums costs; a positive liberty “gift” example that is moving our Republic away from what our Founders knew to be more correct – negative liberties that limited what Government could do to you. After all, this is nothing more than a “false” gift when it comes to personal liberty – whatever Government gives you, it can take away and you enmesh yourself in how / when / how much medical care you can receive. Just ask the rest of us that have to pay for “their gift” – it diminishes our sense of liberty.
Obama: it works! Of COURSE he knows it works – just not quite the way most people belief. Just like Von Bismark (the Prussian created the first welfare state as he was rolling up the Germanic states by realizing he could bribe his “citizens” with their own money by promising them “gifts”), the Progressives knew that once in place, those that were given this largesse at the expense of others, it would not go away.
And they are just dandy with moving a once Great Republic just that next step close to that dump called “European Socialist Democracies”. Not longer exceptional – just yet another country. And these Progressives are just fine with that – because they hope that as the gift bearers, they will get the votes. And depend on the fact that people will not see what is being taken from them.
Yes, Obamacare works – just not how most people think.
