Mississippi is my “911” for the Establishment’s war on the People

by

Yesterday’s Mississippi Republican Senate primary race clearly demonstrates that the real political contest in our country is not between whether we will be governed based on the principles that Republicans or Democrats believe are best for the people, but whether Republicans or Democrats will get to control big government and reap its benefits at the expense of the rest of the American people.

In yesterday’s primary election both Washington Republicans and Democrats came together to support the Republican incumbent Senator, who long ago gave up the fight for traditional Republican principles, against the grassroots candidate who is energetic and committed to traditional Republican principles, e.g., small constitutional government, freedom, opportunity, equal justice for all.

Because the incumbent has disappointed Mississippi Republicans, Republicans were going to elect the challenger.  So the incumbent’s supporters spent millions of dollars, made outrageous, false racial charges against the challenger and bought advertisements and phone calls to encourage Democrats to vote for the incumbent.   I haven’t heard Senator Ayotte or anyone else in Republican leadership condemn these lies and improper practices…practices so bad that establishment Republicans would NEVER use them against Democrats.

With the help of approximately 35,000 Democrat voters the incumbent received about 6000 votes more than the challenger.  Some of those 35,000 Democrats may have broken the law by also voting in a previous Democrat primary, and it is likely that most have violated Mississippi law by voting in the Republican primary with no intention of voting for the Republican in the general election.

In the Mississippi primary the Washington establishment demonstrated its dedication to preservation of the status quo, the domination of citizens by our big government.  Washington is at war with grassroots Americans.

It has been said that Republicans should keep the US House of Representatives and win the US Senate in 2014, but it looks to me like the Republican establishment would rather lose than allow grassroots candidates to be elected.

The Republican Party leadership always tells the grassroots how important it is to come together after the primary to support the victor.  Yet time and time again the Republican Party leadership would rather lose elections than support grassroots primary winners, e.g. Cuccinelli in Virginia, Miller in Alaska, Mourdock in Indiana, Bachmann in Minnesota, Steve King in Iowa, and many others.

To me, the Mississippi primary should be considered the “911” for grassroots Republicans.  The establishment has long been at war with us, lying to us, refusing to deliver on their promises, wasting our hard earned money or using it to pay off political supporters, exempting themselves from the laws they make for the rest of us, and allowing big government to violate many of our most basic rights as identified in the Bill of Rights.  It is time for the grassroots to wake up and fight back.

So I’ve had it.  If I were in Mississippi, I would not vote for the incumbent; maybe the Democrats who helped the incumbent win the Republican primary will help him beat the Democrat candidate.

In the NH Senate race the Republican establishment, including Senator Ayotte, is flooding Scott Brown’s campaign with money and endorsements.  One wonders how Scott Brown, who isn’t good enough to represent Massachusetts, can possibly be good enough to represent New Hampshire.

Nevertheless, Governor Romney is endorsing Scott Brown.  You know that Governor Romney who couldn’t get even 40% in the NH presidential primary and then lost by more than 5% in NH to an extremely vulnerable and disastrous President Obama.

Based on examples elsewhere, the Republican establishment probably won’t support Bob Smith or Jim Rubens if one of them defeats Scott Brown in the primary.  The establishment, apparently, would rather re-elect Senator Shaheen than support the people’s choice.  So why should I care if the establishment’s choice, if he wins the primary, loses to Senator Shaheen?

As far as I am concerned the Republican establishment has lost the trust of the Republican grassroots.  The Republican establishment’s actions in the Mississippi primary is the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back.

I think Republican grassroots people should carefully consider the Republican candidates in their districts and states.  If their Republican candidate isn’t a solid supporter of Republican principles, then the grassroots should ignore their campaigns and find a good candidate in another district or state to support with their money, phone calls, etc.

It is more important to elect people who are committed to our principles, wherever they are in the country, than it is to waste our efforts to elect more Republicans who abandon our principles and disappoint us on so many key issues.
