Doofus Redux: Mark Glaze Executive Director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns

“Providence protects children and idiots. I know because I have tested it.” —Mark Twain

Take on a guy with an Ax handle? That I want to see because you don't look so tough.
Take on a guy with an Ax handle? That I want to see because you don’t look so tough.

You can’t make this stuff up, but first things first. Who is Mark Glaze? Glaze is the Executive Director for Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG). He is also a wind bag and a doofus. Back in August he was on Hardball with Chris Matthews. During the segment he managed to outdo Joe Biden in self-defense commentary. Chris Matthews asked Glaze if he considered an attacker wielding and axe handle rose to the level of meriting an armed response.  Here is the exchange:

Matthews: “Would you consider the guy with the axe handle, armed or not?”

Glaze: “Well, not with a gun.”

Matthews: “No? would you call him —well, I call him armed.”

Glaze: “Well, I have a word for him, I have a word for him. I grew up in Colorado where my dad was a gun dealer and a guy who shoots somebody who has anything other than a gun when they could have done something else like talk or fight with their fists…”

Matthews: “Well, how do you talk to a guy with an axe handle?”

Glaze: “Well, you might fight him. You run away. You de-escalate the situation. I mean, thats the way it was.”

Year after year, crime statistics found on FBI.gov illustrate the foolishness of Glaze’s notion where homicides committed annually with blunt objects, i.e. a Club, a brick, a ball bat, a tire iron, a hammer or yes, an axe handle, far outpace those committed with firearms.

When using deadly force with a firearm to stop a threat, there must exist a reasonable fear of imminent death or grievous bodily injury. That is the standard by which citizens who use firearms to defend themselves are judged.  But if MAIG had its own way, it would set about the country rewriting the laws of self defense and the legal standards by which citizens are judged.

Glaze fits right in with the Bloomies because he is a Kool-Aid drinking pablum-puking progressive. Glaze does not live in the same world you nor I live in. Claiming to be the son of a gun dealer, he demonstrates extremely very little acumen for a topic about which he speaks a great deal. He refers to a “clip” in same the manner and fashion as a magazine. For example, I have “clips” for my AR-15 rifle. These “stripper clips” feed the rounds into a magazine. The AR-15 has a detachable magazine. The M-1 Garand, however has an internal magazine and a clip is used to feed the rounds into the magazine. The point is, sounding faux-authoritative, makes one a phony.

So stealing Joe Biden’s stupid thunder, he outdoes the happy warrior suggesting we “fist fight” a violent person wielding and axe handle.  Now, I am a veteran of the USMC (MCMAP) so I have some skills. However, I am not going to single handedly take on a person with a ball bat or an ax handle.  What a jackass….
