I really can’t believe I really gotta do this, but I guess I hafta:
We are NOT “OccupyNHGOP@gmail.com“
Since the details of the on-g0ing Battle for the NH GOP Bank Accounts were reported to me and I’ve been posting them, someone else has been sending out mass emails from an email address called “OccupyNHGOP@gmail.com” to what seems to be ALL of the State Committee Members. Often, the emails have links back to posts that ARE on GraniteGrok. I have read them and so have the other Groksters who are also State Committee Members. A guessing game has ensued as to who OccupyNHGOP really is (just like we do with our prodigious, and sometimes grammar stretching, commenter C.dog.e.dog). We still don’t know in either case.
Well, during yesterday’s Honor Your Oath rally, a loyal reader came up to me tell me that their friends are saying that because I have gone too “Libertarian” on this, I am persona non grata for sending out these emails. It seems that some folks have tried to put 1 + 1 but come up with 4. For whatever bizarre reason (maybe because the posts were mine?), people thought that I (or one of the Groksters) were emailing them out. Now, I have to be honest, while I respect this person greatly, I just broke up laughing – until I saw the stern look on their face AND another person, hearing the discussion, confirmed what was being said. Both said that I had to address this; given that I respect both of them highly, I am here. So, for the record, let me say this:
- It is not me sending out the emails (nor any of the other Groksters).
- I have always signed all my posts here on the ‘Grok with my name (ok, my nickname which I have had since birth, but I bet VERY few of you know my real full (including middle) name) and the only emails that go out from “me” with posts in them are the Daily ‘Grok. After writing 6,547 out of the 13,874 posted entries, WHY would I start to go anonymous?
- In emails and on Facebook, I have always used my name – I have no fear of speaking my mind and have made it clear over the years where I stand vis-a-vis “Establishment” Republicans vs the “Liberty and Freedom” Republicans. Again, WHY would I start to go anonymous now?
- I am a Conservative with small “L” libertarian leanings – not a Libertarian. I have real Libertarians laughing over this – they tell me “Trust us, you ain’t us – but at least you reach out and talk to us” (it seems that most Establishment Republicans can’t stand Libertarians). I also am not an Establishment Republican – being a true Republican means more than just a) putting an R next to your name and b) believing the only purpose is “Vote for us, we’re better than / not Democrats”.
Yesterday, I was introduced as someone who “annoys Progressives and pursues wayward Republicans” along with the rest of the Groksters. That won’t change. And we will continue to report on “Republicans acting badly” because we demand better from Republicans. And if there is a subset of Republicans that believes that those who are doing wrong should not have the Big Flashlights shined on them simply because they are Republicans as well, well, I have one message for you:
Grow up and stop being enablers of bad behaviors. Wrong is wrong, even if you have an “R” after your name.
Don’t want the Flashlights swung into your dark corner? Don’t be “Stuck on Stupid”.
- And you will know who said what. We don’t do anonymous amongst the core set of Groksters. Every Grokster, even when given the choice, decided, in a heartbeat, to use their names.
In the mean time, like it or not, if OccupyNHGOP can help keep these sometimes-wayward-bozos on the straight and narrow, more power to him / her / <insert other term here>. After all, in this case, the E-Board works for us and not the other way around. It IS our responsibility to ensure they do the right things – and call them out when they do the inconsistent and untrustworthy ones.
