I’ll admit, my “for pay” babysitting days are decades ago. Coupla bucks an hour (and that was pretty decent back then). I understand that inflation is a compounding entity but this is just plain Stupidity on a Stick.

This is the government spending your money. Given all the high schoolers that are still out of school, you could hire an army of them at a way lower cost (what is the going rate today – $10? Do that and all the Wifi you can consume). The news (reformatted, emphasis mine):
Welcome to Joe Biden’s America, where teachers are back to in-person instruction… not for your kids, but for migrant teens who snuck over the border illegally and where the government is now attempting to hurriedly find $144,000-a-year babysitters to watch them as well. All on your dime.
The U.S. Office of Personnel Management put out the call on March 25 for heads of departments and supervisors to find current and former federal employees to be reassigned temporarily to watch kids at illegal-alien holding facilities in Dallas, San Diego, San Antonio, and Ft. Bliss.
Yeah – academically OUR Govt is prioritizing OTHER people’s kids over American kids.
This is all because the Biden Administration felt that it HAD to reverse every single one of Trump’s policies EVEN if they made sense. An “Olly, olly, oxen free” call to citizens of other countries to come in free of charge (to them, certainly not to us) is not a sane policy.
The least of the problems is that while we are spending trillions on fighting the WuFlu (between PPE, lost wages, dislocations, job and business losses, and vaccine development and deployment), it is a fact that a significant percentage of these kids are COVID positive.
This is just INSANE! Thanks, Biden, for exposing innocent Americans instead of doing the right thing and refusing them entry into our country via health regulations.
Oh, and the Biden didn’t want us to know that our well to VERY well-paid Public Masters turned babysitters as well. Yeah, the MOST TRANSPARENT ADMINISTRATION EVAH!
The feds appear to be trying to keep this job announcement on the low-pro, as it’s going out only to “heads of departments and agencies” on a link that is “not searchable on USAJOBS” webpage.
In the Internet Age, good luck with that. Somebody, at some point, is going to spill the beans. So this is a twofer – a roundabout way of admitting/not admitting that the Biden border policy is a big #FAIL but now the Big Govt solution is just to throw money at the problem. A problem, I will add, that Trump solved but that the Democrats can’t stand that he has, once again, shown them up.
There are so many unaccompanied minors that the DHS’s Office of Refugee Resettlement put out the call for GS-9 to GS-15-level current and former federal employees who make anywhere from $46,083 to $143,598 per year to watch the kids whose own parents left them to the whims of human traffickers.
When it is other peoples’ money that you’re spending, you don’t care about the cost.
And given what we’ve been seeing out of Govt for results lately, I’m betting that the high school kids could do a better job.
