A 70-year-old women’s high school basketball coach shot and killed one would-be mugger and injured another while walking two players to their cars Friday night in Detroit, WXYZ-TV reported:
Police sources say the coach was walking the two girls to their cars when two men allegedly approached and one pulled out a gun and grabbed him by his chain necklace. The coach then pulled out his gun and shot both of them, according to sources.
The man who shot the attackers was 70 years old, according to police.
One of the attackers was found dead in the median on Lafayette Boulevard, and the other was taken to a local hospital, according to police sources. We’ve learned that both of the men had attended the high school, and one had been recently expelled.
Police said the coach, who has not been named, was approached by two teens who tried to rob him in the parking lot of Martin Luther King High School as he walked with two girls around 7:30 p.m, WDIV-TV reported. One of the attackers died and the other was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Sources told WXYZ the coach was also a reserve police office with a license to carry a concealed pistol. One of the teens was also armed with a gun.
According to WDIV, both teens were students at the high school, though the one who died had recently been expelled.
Once again we see that in the hands of a law abiding citizen, a gun can equalize the “power inequality” (yeah, that’s what Progressives are always complaining about – power inequality). Look, I’m getting older – and the only mass that is increasing is that around the middle of me. So, would the gun confiscators would have been willing sacrifice not only this 70 year old coach but the two young gals as well?
