DISQUS Doodlings: Carbon footprint this, carbon footprint that; this is worse than the old Weight Watchers

by

Count this calorie, count that carbon unit – always in fear of doing the right thing. At least for weight loss, it can be a right thing IF you’re not obsessing over it. With the eco-Socialists, this obsession in calculating your carbon footprint is well past annoying (and well passed Annoying Nannyism as well). Don’t do this – too much carbon. Don’t do that – too much carbon. And they unit when these slaves to GAIA and saving the planet start “intersectionalizing” both at the same time.

Well, at least then you can give yourself TWO sets of anxieties at the same: don’t eat that because of weight and don’t eat that because it will kill the earth. But, as they say, they persist in hectoring the rest of us over everything. I dunno which is worse – the other set of Social Justice Warriors that want to coerce my speech for LGBTWTF pronouns or the Carbon Nannies (or is that Carbon Nannies?) that just don’t want you to live to do anything nice. Like over at Treehugger, once again (emphasis mine): The tourism industry needs carbon footprint labels

There’s interesting new research from the sustainable tourism sector. A company in the UK called Responsible Travel (RT) commissioned a small study that looked into the carbon footprints of four different vacations – an all-inclusive guesthouse in France, a self-catering cottage in North Devon, a shared house on a Croatian island, and a sports hotel in Catalonia – and measured their emissions relating to transport, accommodation, and food.

What these numbers revealed is that choice of food and accommodation have a bigger impact than many people might realize on the overall carbon footprint of a vacation. RT’s founder and CEO Justin Francis explained in the Independent,

“Transport will usually be the primary carbon contributor of any holiday. But what you eat (your holiday ‘foodprint‘) can not only exceed your accommodation impacts, but also your transport emissions. Even your flights. Last week’s powerful Channel 4 documentary – Apocalypse Cow – provided an apt example, with the highly unsettling fact that a handful of beef roasting joints required the same CO2 to produce as a return flight from London to New York.”

These are the people that want to all but ban flying because of “emissions”. They obsess over CO2 outputs for all kinds of things – it’s a wonder that they’re not all on some kind of anti-depressant (but they won’t take them because they consider themselves the Normal and Responsible ones – and those pills aren’t carbon free either!). You go on vacation (holiday for those across The Pond) to have fun, to relax, and to just shut out your normal day-to-day life.  It’s a time to get away, de-tox from normal pressures, and experience stuff that you ordinarily wouldn’t.

Not THESE people – every second of every day we are to be “mindful” of how we live and the energy we use. My response was quick and short:

GraniteGrok:

It is absolutely astounding how environmentalists can shame and guilt pretty much anything that used to be fun.

OK, it’s not astounding. Annoying, perhaps, might be a better nuance.

Upon further thought, c/Annoying/ Extremely Annoying beyond belief and toleration/*  (old school programmers will get that!).  Like with losing weight – do the right thing most of the time; once in a while going out for a good time, forgetting the calories, and having a good, fun time is worth it.  Living a life of drudgery just isn’t worth it. But no, here comes one of the worst wokescolds there in response:

Nelson6666

And because of that they will be ignored till the environment collapses and then everyone will point a finger at them and scream, “Why didn’t you warn us!!!”

A true believer.  Look, I believe in climate change – our simple history is that the earth has undergone many periods of cooling and warming (but Ice Ages tend to last longer than Warm Periods; we are in an instance of the latter right now). I am a skeptic about man’s contribution to it vs the amount of Nature is responsible for (and any facet of that you want to yak about). But Nelson6666 is one of those that EVERYTHING matters – and that we should all be subject to Government that would force us all to change our lives simply because WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!

Well, AOC says we’ve got 12 11 years left – why not just party like its 1999?

…till the environment collapses

Pfft. I’ve been listening to the apocalyptic doom-sayers since the early 70s. Not a SINGLE one has come true. If even one had transpired, I’d be willing to listen more but none have.

And that was the end of that conversation. The Doom is always 10, 20, 50, 100 years out.  In the last 50 years, not a SINGLE prediction of Climate Doom has come about even as they wail that “weather” is always a harbinger of it (“SEE that freezing weather???   SEE that hot weather???”).

Pfft, indeed.
