Kill everything AND expose their own hypocrisy on everything. And this time they have gone to far (if I was to put this to TMEW as Mrs. Doubtfire is one of her top 3 movies):
The Seattle Times and humorless Seattle activists believe the new 5th Avenue Theater production of “Mrs. Doubtfire” is “problematic” because a male character plays a woman. Some want it cancelled. It’s the latest Progressive woke brigade feigning outrage so they can tell you how inclusive they are and how evil you are.
The play is based on the hit Robin Williams movie about a divorced dad, named Daniel Hillard, who dresses as an elderly Scottish nanny in order to spend more time with his three children. It’s a classic comedy.
Though no Seattle Times writer is brave enough to put their name to the initial hot take, the piece declares the play is “problematic” in the headline. They take the position that “a man in a dress doesn’t cut it as a punch line in 2019 — not without serious and necessary conversations.” With that in mind, they connected with “five theater artists — some transgender, some queer” to get their takes before and after they saw the play.
How DARE they! They wail about the lack of minorities in other plays and movies and demand that producers and directors “substitute” in other “diversity affirmative action” candidates into well beloved roles. Yet here, the movie WAS about a guy and not just some Scottish nanny – a GUY for heavens sake! A guy that only wanted to be with his children – but then again, given the culture today, all white men are perverts (either actually or soon to be in the future) and shouldn’t ever be let near a child – even his own.
And forget about “serious and necessary conversations” – from the PC crowd, it only ends up as a time to get hectored and lectured. The main lesson, however, is that no matter how much the groveling the accused does, and no matter how profuse the apologies are (hey, the eco-socialists won’t EVAH forgive him for having even one child because of GAIA and carbon footprint), you’re still guilty. Forever and ever.
After all, in real life, the Left is demanding that we accept AND affirm that human bodies mean nothing at all – that sex is merely a social manifestation. Guys can be girls and girls can be guys. Marriage is no longer meant for monogamy for life for the raising of children so that they have the different influences of both a Mom and Dad. God who “created them male and female”? Simply fantasy as we have “evolved” passed the idea that there is a God at all – we are our own gods who make up our own “right” and “wrong”. Even the whole idea of marriage is under attack with polyamory with members of such coming and going. Frankly, while adults fulfill their “needs” and fantasies, it is the kids who get the shaft in all this. But, that’s what happens when the Left decides to destroy norms – the most vulnerable get hurt in the end.
As the example shows, we also see the hypocrisy in all this; anything goes in real life but boy, if you wanna just put on a play that replicates a movie – OUTRAGE!
Of COURSE “a man in a dress doesn’t cut it as a punch line” anymore – too many are and for all the wrong reasons.
