39…23….17

Mitt Romney owned the New Hampshire Primary. Period. Turnout was good and steady but not unusual. Nothing dramatic happened. People just gave up and voted for Mittens.

With 95% reporting Governor Romney took 39% of the vote. Ron Paul came in second with 23%. Governor Huntsman managed third with 17%. Gingrich and Santorum both had about 9%.

While I hate to say this,  unless Sarah Palin (or someone) jumps in for some reason, I think Romney may be on his way to clearing the table.

Gingrich will stick around to irritate Mitt. Huntsman will hang in for as long as he can claim to be an alternative to Mitt. Ron Paul will stay until the bitter end because he is Ron Paul and this is his last dance. Rick Santorum has to do well in South Carolina and Florida or he’s done. And Rick Perry must come in at least third in the next two contests to justify a continued effort.

We’ve been at this in New Hampshire for over a year. I’m glad it is over for us. I just hope the other states, the ones who say they want to make a difference in the selection process, do that. Don’t just give it to Mittens.
