Challenging “Banned Books Week”

It’s “Banned Books Week.” Pardon my groan. I rant about this every year. No end in sight, alas. The folks behind Banned Books Week – a coalition of the American Library Association and allied groups – lost all credibility with me years ago when they conflated “banned” and “challenged,” especially when the challenge is to … Read more

NFL anthem protest poll good for Trump

Not Suprised. Nearly two-thirds of Americans say NFL players should stand and be respectful during the playing of the national anthem, according to a survey released on Monday. A survey by Remington Research Group found that 64 percent of voters agree with President Trump and want players to stand for the anthem. The survey also found that … Read more

It’s on.

I love how I’m referred to as a political foe instead of an election volunteer; but maybe that’s her defense.  Since her attorney is the big cheese for the NH Democrat Party, I’m sure he has a plan.

Anthony Weiner Gets 21 Months in the Pokey for Sexting

Hillary Clinton’s Top Aid’s Husband is going to Federal Prison for sexting with a minor. Prosecutors said Weiner knew that the girl was a minor and nonetheless asked her to engage in explicit conduct, which is a crime. They asked for a sentence between 21 and 27 months, arguing that Weiner’s misdeeds were “serious and … Read more

Only a Matter of Time: Antifa Starts Eating their Own…

And whites are first on the menu (Surprise!). Turns out that “whites are inherently racist” because “It’s in your blood.  It’s in your DNA.”  At least that’s what this lady in the video thinks. You think she’s alone? Me neither. https://youtu.be/3i6J2fcrKi8 Wow, these people have a lot of time on their hands. What a dumb … Read more

Patriot fans tell the Patriot players who took a knee what they think of them

Boston is a patriotic place – this is the area of the country where the “Shot heard ’round the world” was fired when the British Redcoats were sent to disarm the colonials.  A ragtag militia of 70 odd ordinary male citizens stood up to a mass of 700 British regulars – the finest army in the world of that time.  We take our heritage seriously, and we take our flag and our national anthem just as seriously.  While Pats fans are rabid in their devotion to their team, last Sunday they showed that they have a greater loyalty – in the long line established by those in Concord/Lexington who were willing to stand (and fall) to secure our liberty.

Yes, the Pats fans want to watch their team, again, rabidly. But for the lying MSM and the SJWs arguing that they are just racists and that there is no other reason for not joining #BendTheKnee, their blindness to the Goodness of this country blinds them.

Good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun

holstered-gun1Yet another instance of what the Left claims never happens – those of us with concealed permits (or here in NH, a pistol / revolver license even though we have Constitutional Carry now) are mindful of the responsibilities it holds and that we have taken on voluntarily to protect ourselves, our families, our friends, and others if need be (reformatted, emphasis mine):

A good guy with a gun confronted Emanuel Kidega Samson on Sunday and held him at gunpoint after he allegedly opened fire on congregants at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ.

Breitbart News reported that the good guy–22–year-old Robert Engle–initially confronted Samson while unarmed and Samson was shot with his own gun during the physicality that followed. The Tennessean reports that after Samson was shot, Engle ran out to his car and retrieved his own firearm, then re-entered the church and held Samson at gunpoint for police.

Engle has a concealed carry permit.  Metro Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson said of Engle, “He’s the hero. He’s the person who stopped this madness.”

Politics – the Left has succeeded in politics everywhere but will they lose the politco-cultural war they started?

Star Trek EnterpriseI just had a micro-rant towards TMEW (The Most Esteemed Wife). No, not AT her or ABOUT her – but this headline:

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Cast Takes a Knee After Show’s Premiere

I really wish I had been taping myself – I realized I had a few good lines of ire and now I can’t remember them. Look, I’m a political blogger because I found out the hard way when I was half my present age that people were making decisions about how their actions within the political realm/Government were forcing me and my family to live in certain ways or accept certain things or affecting our family budget. That was the start of my “activation, ” and I said I’d never let that happen. Why should I – or you for that matter? Why do they think they are better at living our lives than us?

For all the time I spend in this realm, believe it or not, I WANT IT TO STAY THERE!!!!!  I AM SO SICK AND TIRED OF IT BEING EVERYWHERE ELSE I COULD JUST PUKE!

Quick thought – Nuclear non-proliferation?

SHOT: Non-proliferation is dead in Northeast Asia, and Chinese support for North Korea helped to kill it. CHASER: Wait until someone says the same thing a world away: Non-proliferation is dead in the Middle East and Obama’s support for Iran helped to kill it. I do so hope that Trump decides put the US out of … Read more

Polling is Now ‘Crap’ In Germany

merkel_facepalmThe militant progressives thought they had a win in Britain until Brexit passed. They didn’t blame the Russians, but the ground was broken for voters keeping secrets from pollsters in significant numbers to avoid being harassed.

Many who wanted to vote for Mr. Trump in 2016 kept silent from friends, family, the militant political left, and pollsters, handing them a stunning defeat (to them) when Hillary had her hat handed to her last November.

Now it’s Germany’s turn as born and bred locals went out in large enough numbers in some districts to vote for candidates in a “far-right” party because no one in the center-left coalition would take them seriously.

It’s Monday: I’m on the Air at WLMW 90.7 FM at 8:40 am

This will be my last Monday in-studio with Rich Girard but not my last Monday on the program. I’m working on calling-in in future weeks but at a different time so check back for details on that. For today I’ll be poking and prodding recent reporting (and what’s missing from that reporting) on some “privately … Read more

I don’t even know what to make of this

Post-TruthI get tons of mail, solicited and unsolicited from commercial companies, friends, media, and advocacy groups. One of them is Campaigns & Elections which is a trade rag for those that are interested or work in campaigns. Like almost every other trade, they have their own confabs to talk about whatever it is they love to yak about and this group is no different. But I was a bit stunned to see what one of the breakout sessions was about (emphasis mine):

The prelim agenda for Campaigns & Marketing Summit in Washington, DC on November 13th is now live. Check it out here.

Sessions include:

Delivering a Message in Less than 10 Seconds: The Snackable Era of Advertising
How Artificial Intelligence Will Transform Political Campaigns
Virtual Reality: Moving from Story Telling to Story Living
Developing an Ad Campaign in the Post-Truth Era

Post-Truth – a time in our lives when there are no absolutes (thanks to the relativistic morality of Progressives) because the Left decided that everyone can define “truth” on their own.

If only more NH School Boards would do this – I know mine in Gilford doesn’t

SchoolhouseIn fact, mine operates on a philosophy of “let’s get away with as much as we can and spend it” – but more as we go along during our budget season.  No, this post is about one that did the right thing – “Huzzah!” to the Conway School Board (reformatted, emphasis mine):

CONWAY — Conway School Board members shared some good news earlier this month — they’ll be returning nearly $2 million to the town to help offset taxes. At a recent meeting, the board revealed it has more than $1.7 million left in its coffers from the prior school year. On top of that, they agreed to release another $215,000 by not retaining the 2.5 percent of the budget for the next year.

“This is great news, it’s big,” said school board member Mark Hounsell at the Sept. 11 meeting. “At the end of the 2016-17 school year, the district shows an ending school year balance of $1,783,854. That is money that will be returned to the taxpayers. That’s a very good return.”

Yes it is; OUTSTANDING!  Finally, a Government Entity, especially a School Board, that understands that it isn’t their money; they are merely stewards of it.  No hemming, no hawing – and certainly not taking advantage of an “opportunity” to do what others around the State seem to do – mission creep.  Nope, not a hint of “well, what ELSE can we do with this money?  After all, it IS in our bank account”.

Gee, if only someone had warned them…

Mount Katahdin Knife Edge
Mount Katahdin (Medicaid Expansion) Knife Edge – Which way will NH Republicans Fall?

And yes, that would be we Groksters.  For years we have warned about taking “free money with strings attached.” There’s another meme that describes the below from the Pravda on the Merrimack: “Fed crack.” No, not real drugs but the allure and the addiction is just as real as that white powder: greenbacks. Lots of it. FREE MONEY they say. Until it isn’t free. Or not there at all.

And it is solely the fault of NH Republican elected “leaders” that opened up OUR (financial) veins to inject it into the NH budget. They ha /have no political will to resist, only “gimme, gimme, gimme.”

Though he’s declared himself no fan of Obamacare, Gov. Chris Sununu and fellow Republican governors John Kasich of Ohio and Charlie Baker of Massachusetts oppose the bill because it would cost their states money. Lots of money. New Hampshire would lose $1 billion in federal revenue between 2020 and 2026 which could force the state to, horror of horrors, consider the imposition of a sales or income tax, Sununu said. The alternative, of course, would be to reduce Medicaid benefits, raise eligibility levels and insure fewer people.

So now the NH Republicans may have to walk the political equivalent of the Katahdin’ Knife Edge – which way are they going to fall?

Feminist group admits ‘pay gap’ is caused by women’s choices

equalpaymyth

A Researcher for the  American Association of University Women (AAUW) just destroyed the pay-gap myth.

In a recent article on the gender pay gap, AAUW Senior Researcher Kevin Miller concedes that the pay disparity between women and men isn’t caused primarily by discrimination, but rather by the personal and professional choices that women make.

These choices include the tendency of women to work fewer hours to focus on “domestic work” and accept “reduced job tenure resulting from breaks in labor-force participation to raise children.”

Kevin Miller, who should probably prepare himself for some negative attention, didn’t stop there.
