Craig has the endorsement of EMILY’s List this year, as she did in 2015. The abortion advocacy group describes its rationale for involvement in state and local elections:
EMILY’s List recruits, trains and supports pro-choice Democratic women candidates at every level of the ballot. By helping to elect these women to office in 2017, we’re not only building a farm team, but we’re also putting strong women in charge of decisions that affect women and families every day — from the legislators who write laws, the attorneys general who defend and enforce them, and the secretaries of state who ensure access to the ballot.
(Strong pro-life women need not apply, apparently.)
Paul Feely of the Union Leader reports that Gatsas and Craig finished way ahead of a handful of other mayoral candidates in the September 19 primary, with Craig outpolling Gatsas 5,800-4,987.
The general election will be on November 7.
