Morning Update: Schaden-fraud

Today, on the Morning Update, great news for taxpayers. The DOJ has charged 324 defendants connected to $ 14.6 billion in alleged fraud, including licensed medical professionals, transnational criminals, and drug dealers, defrauding our safety-net programs across 12 states. So, Dems, why did we need to wait for Trump to find and indict all these fraudsters?

And yes, I know how to spell schadenfreude.

Welcome to your Friday, June 19, 2026. Morning update.

Fraud. schadenfreude, Schadenfreude. Fraud, fraud, fraud. JD Vance has been put in charge of a national effort to root out fraud, and there’s a lot of it, tons of it. In fact, Republicans are running on cutting fraud. And the DOJ, Trump’s DOJ, just announced a massive, major indictment. Busts, arrests, it’s huge.

Quote, “The Justice Department today announced the results of its 2025 national health care fraud takedown, which resulted in a criminal charge against 324 defendants, including 96 doctors, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and other licensed medical professionals in 50 federal districts and 12 state attorneys generals’ offices across the United States, for their alleged participation in various health care fraud schemes involving over 14.6 billion in intended losses.

Here’s a [video] clip from the press conference.

It says twelve states; I wonder if they’re all blue. I imagine some of them probably are. It’s a good question; they don’t tell us. We’ll have to wait and find out.

Another thing they bring up at the press conference is that they’ve got this never-before-seen, best-ever, nothing-like-it-in-the-world coordination going on, where everybody’s kind of connected and sharing information in ways they never could before. You know why that is, right? Doge. Doge did that. The Doge guys went in, and they didn’t just look for opportunities to cut waste, to identify fraud. They started connecting agencies. Agencies within agencies.

Everybody’s getting connected. Part of the AI thing is to help them search through all that mass of information, to prevent dead people from collecting Social Security, to identify and red-flag things that look like fraud, like medical and Medicare fraud totaling something in the neighborhood of fourteen point six billion dollars. And that’s probably just the beginning of the fraud. There’s a lot more of it.

I guess my question is, since a lot of this is in Democrat states, you know, we’ve seen the stories from Minnesota and California, and we know that they’re a little lax on that whole thing, and there are rumors that there’s a kickback component to that, which is, you know, my question: why didn’t they find the fraud? Why didn’t they look for the fraud? There’s evidence that they knew about it. It must mean, possibly, allegedly that they somehow benefit.

And then they go and say Republicans are trying to cut Medicaid, Social Security, Medicare, and food stamps. What they’re trying to do is cut the fraud to save the programs, to save you billions and billions of dollars. That it’s your tax money. It’s money they took from you to give it to people in genuine need.

Kickbacks to a Democrat isn’t a genuine need. But that might explain why they think these are cuts.

That’s it for today. We’ll talk to you on Monday, episode two hundred. See you then.
