The NHGOP issued a press release in which it points out that…
Governor Hassan is considering nominating former casino lobbyist Lucy Hodder as Attorney General. Hodder currently serves as legal counsel in Hassan’s office and previously served as the personal lobbyist for Millenium Gaming president William Wortman:
Governor Hassan replacing her abruptly departing budget-questioning AG with a pro-gambling need it legal for the budget AG, in the midst of trying to invent $80 million dollars in gambling licensing fees for something that is not yet even legal in the state, might give one pause. The possibility that her office has been actively trying to get the state lottery commission to lobby the NH legislature to pass a gambling Bill should also give us pause. So how much pause should this give us on top of all of that?
Lucy Hodder may be a Gambling lobbyist but she has also been a lawyer in the employ of Rath, Young & Pignatelli. Hodder listed the law firm as her place of business on campaign donation records from 2002 to 2010. That would be the same “law firm Pignatelli” who is the husband of New Hampshire Executive Councilor Debora Pignatelli. The same Deb Pignatelli who would have oversight as an Executive Councilor on approving the nomination of Lucy Hodder the gambling lobbyist/Lawyer to the position of Attorney General of the State of New Hampshire.
