In the wake of Disney’s announcement of a new theme park in Abu Dhabi, the question Democrats should be asking is, how could you?
The capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), just a surface-to-surface missile throw from the Islamic Republic of Iran, seems an unlikely place for a Woke Mouse to set up house, not ‘cuz Iran, but ‘cuz UAE. While you might not get the death penalty for being gay, getting arrested, beaten, and accidentally dying in custody remain possibilities.
Sharia Law is a thing. Maybe not the mandatory Hijab or burka thing, but it is a giant guardrail on what is culturally permitted. Giving porn to other people’s kids (or defending that practice) will land you in hot water. Probably not literally. I don’t think boiling people to death is common practice, but death by firing squad is, and the list of offenses is long. So, unlike Florida, where the Mouseketeers lost their liberal minds over a law that kept cartoon and kid-focused porn out of the hands of third-graders – because the f*cking adults couldn’t be trusted to do it – there’ll be none of that s*it in Abu Dhabi.
Public displays of affection are frowned upon (tourists are as likely to get arrested for it these days). Modest dressing by women is expected. Ladies getting assaulted or raped is uncommon but a possibility. And LGBTQ relationships are forbidden. Grooming is also illegal. Promoting the gay lifestyle is a no-go. The mental torture of children to convince them they were born in the wrong body is not tolerated.
It is a place where they don’t say gay, which Disney objected to until …Abu Dhabi!
Making obscene sums of money is allowed, so Disney has theme parks, and is planning one in a Sharia law enclave in the Middle East. Cashing in at the expense of the perception of concern over so-called “book banning” in the Sunshine State, which technically prevents conversion therapy, which the progs were supposed to be against until they weren’t (even though they still claim they are).
Disney appears to be milking the Middle East to fund their pro-trans agenda.
I imagine there are a lot of concessions for the park—no scantily clad princesses, not even the one from Aladdin. The shoulders and knees must be covered, but a hijab is not required, so you won’t have to worry about it flying off on any of the mechanical amusements or attractions, whatever those might be—pirates of the Gulf of Aden. Mohammad’s Desert treehouse. Pilgrimage to the Kaaba. Hall of Martyrs. It’s a small Ummah.
And let’s not forget Project Tomorrow: Return to the 8th century.
But you have to admit they picked the correct Islamic country if you had to choose any. UAE is ruled by Sharia, but doesn’t do all that badly when it comes to women. They can drive, vote, own property, work, and even stand for elected office.
But they can’t have a penis.
At the time of publication, there are no reports of radical left-wing nut bags lighting Disney stores on fire.
