Every law that has been held unconstitutional had its proponents who thought the law was necessary. If necessity alone could preserve unconstitutional laws, then there would be no need for the Constitution. All that would be required is convincing even a temporary legislative majority that a law – no matter how destructive of liberty and federalism – is necessary.

Former Speaker William O’Brien Endorses Jane Cormier For NH Executive Council District 4
Hooksett, NH – Jane Cormier is proud to announce the endorsement of her campaign for Executive Council District 4 by former Speaker of the House William O’Brien:
“As a former NH House Speaker, I heartily endorse Jane Cormier for the Executive Council. While Jane and I served together as state representatives, I came to know her as a dedicated, tireless, and effective advocate for the hardworking women and men of New Hampshire. The very qualities that make a great Executive Councilor – a dedication to detail while never losing sight of broader requirements, an openness to listening and working with others across the political spectrum, and courage, courtesy and coolness in the face of today’s harsh political rhetoric – are what Jane has become known for among her colleagues and constituents.
New Hampshire will be exceedingly well-served with Jane Cormier on the Executive Council and you have a great opportunity to make this happen.”
Gas Tax, Gas Tax, Gas Tax! Bill O’Brien Has An Amendment for HB 617

Former House Speaker Bill O’Brien has submitted a proposed amendment to HB 617 the New Hampshire Democrats massive gas tax hike. It would require all taxes raised to go to the Highway Department for roads and bridges. (From Facebook)
This morning I sent the following email to all other state representatives. I would like to share it with you.
If you agree, please contact your local state representative and ask him to vote on Wednesday for the O’Brien Amendment to HB 617, which will avoid an 83% gas tax increase, the largest tax increase in NH state history.
Here’s the email and the amendment is attached to this posting:

No Bullies, Like Union Bullies
Below is text taken from N.H. House Speaker William O’Brien’s Facebook page:
Here’s what union-controlled government has become in New Hampshire:
Union operatives are pulling my yard signs from public areas and replacing some of them with union signs. Union thugs have twice gone into a general store in my town and threatened the woman who owns it with a boycott if she doesn’t take down a yard sign supporting me.
Unions also have promised to put $50,000 into my district, which has about 8,000 people, to defeat me. My opponents’ efforts are beginning to show that kind of spending.

The Three Amigo’s
In an email posted to the entire Republican caucus, team player Gene Chandler invited everyone to a luncheon to meet the Republican candidates for speaker of the House. Gene announced that he would be there, along with John Reagan, Susan Emerson….and…..that’s it.
So three of the four candidates have arranged a lunch (those three seem to do everything together now) at 11:30 the day of the vote for speaker–which happens at 1pm–to do a meet and greet, and have purposefully excluded William O’Brien.
I wonder if the progressives are catering the event and filled out the invites? The democrats would not have invited Bill O’Brien either.
I mean, wasn’t it Dean Barker at Boo Hoo Hampshire who said, if he had to have any of them, he’d prefer Gene?
Ringing endorsement from an ultra liberal democrat.
I say eat Gene’s free lunch and then vote for the guy who was not even invited to the event. The one the democrats do not want to be speaker. William O’Brien.
