Shurtleff Defends Stand Your Ground Repeal In The Union Leader

“There is hardly any mental misery worse than that of having our own serious phrases, our own rooted beliefs, caricatured by a charlatan or a hireling.”  —George Eliot

Last Monday, Steve Shurtleff wrote an op-ed in advocacy for his bill to repeal stand your ground. He tells several lies, makes completely inaccurate statements and could not cite one case where the law was used by a criminal to avoid prosecution.  Shurtleff writes,

NH House Vote To Repeal Stand Your Ground (HB 135) is Today

Oh_No_Guns_White

Update [-Skip]:  The NH House just voted to pass HB135 which means that you must flee from danger instead of asserting your Right to Self-Defense.  From the House Republican Alliance:

“We are saddened but not surprised by the passage of HB135, which removes a person’s right to defend oneself. The passage of this politically motivated bill strips away the rights of citizens to stand their ground and protect themselves, others and their property if threatened where ever they have a right to be,” stated Representative Al Baldasaro, HRA co-chair. “Every citizen has a constitutional right to defend themselves and this blatant attempt at political correctness is a disservice to our constituents.”

House Bill 496 would restore ‘limited driving privileges for eligible first-time DWI offenders to facilitate employment, rehabilitation, and medical treatment.’

Scared Shurtleff Tees Us Up Tomorrow

Retired Deputy Dawg Shurtleff gets to stand up on his hind legs tomorrow and introduce a bill (HB135) to begin disarming law-abiding folk, a bill from which he remains exempt.  The Democrats outnumber Republican 11-9 on the House Criminal Justice committee so for good measure, here is the whole group. Call them at home, email them directly … Read more
