Mayor Donchess and five aldermen (Tom Lopez, Brandon Laws, Shoshana Kelly, Patricia Klee, and Jan Schmidt), are proposing a City of Nashua Charter change wherein the Mayor and President of the Board of Aldermen (BoA) would appoint Police Commissioners, instead of the Governor.
The following email alleging safety and liability concerns was signed by all the members of the Greater Nashua Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Command Staff and sent to Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess.
Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess is supporting a proposed amendment to the city mask ordinance, which requires that masks be worn in all public places in Nashua. The existing mask ordinance has a fine up to $1,000 and it is enforced by local law enforcement but the amendment would turn businesses into the mask police.
In a popular Nashua Facebook group last week, a member posted that there was a Black Lives Matter protest being planned for that evening and he warned “If you have a business on Main Street, prepare to defend it.”
