This week on GrokTALK!, Democrats have bills for 2027 to pass a sales and income tax, raise business taxes, and tax retirement income (Interest and dividends). The November elections in the Granite State are about stopping a sales and income tax and whether you love New Hampshire enough to vote to stop both.

Welcome to another edition of Grok Talk, brought to you by Grok Media, LLC, and GraniteGrok.com. Today I have one message for you. And it could take me 15 minutes to drive it home, but it is the single most important message granite staters need to hear, share, repeat, memorize
Over and over and over. Taxes.
Electing Democrats in New Hampshire this November is going to cost you a lot. That is not an exaggeration.
The Dems have already put in bills for the 2027 session. Things they want to pass, things they want to become law.
They want to reinstate the interest and dividends tax, which primarily affects seniors and their retirement income.
Republicans repealed that tax zero zilch no more.
Democrats have a bill to bring it back.
Democrats have a bill to raise business taxes, which will affect what? Jobs, wages, raises, benefits, opportunity.
And the price of everything. You tax a business; that’s a cost. They have to find a way to offset it to stay in business, and you will pay more.
It also reduces the appeal to expand or bring a business into the state of New Hampshire. Lower business taxes attract more business. More business actually generates more tax revenue. This will do the opposite.
And if neither of those is scary enough for you, how about this?
Democrats have a bill in the twenty twenty seven session to introduce a sales tax.
New Hampshire doesn’t have one. Well, we have the rooms and meals tax, it’s the tourist tax, and Republicans have reduced that tax. Democrats want to add a brand new one.
It’s a camel’s nose under the tent, foot in the door tax. They’ll claim it’ll just be on luxury items. I assume that means cars, boats, campers, RVs, those sorts of things.
Does anyone believe they’ll never expand that tax to anything else? You shouldn’t.
But you don’t want this one either. You don’t want any sales tax. People from all over New England come to New Hampshire to buy those items because they don’t have to pay a sales tax. That’s a lot of business; it’s a lot of commerce; it’s a lot of revenue.
Businesses get taxed on the revenue. If you invite more sales, even with lower business taxes, you generate more tax revenue. What incentive does anybody have to come from a state that taxes these items to buy them in this state if New Hampshire Democrats start taxing them here?
That doesn’t just affect luxury purchases. Most of the people who come here engage in other activities, secondary purchases, liquor, cigarettes, food, just about anything. A vast sum of commerce in the state of New Hampshire results from secondary traffic. That’s gonna be gone.
All three of these planned taxes or tax hikes make the Granite State less desirable, less appealing, and less unique.
Will also cost us jobs and businesses, growth, and, of course, the secondary sales I just discussed. But the Democrats have another tax they’ve submitted a bill for for 2027.
They have a bill for an income tax.
Now they’re gonna do some sort of song and dance to try to justify it. we’re only gonna tax rich people. But here’s the thing: there are no examples of Democrats anywhere ever just taxing rich people. Once you give them an income tax, they have a taxing structure in place; they have a division of the government established for this purpose. It will grow because there’s no ceiling on what they will spend your money on.
Need examples of how this works. California, New York, Massachusetts, New York City in particular, and the state of New York. Wealth taxes, we’re just going to tax the wealthy a little bit more. What do they do? They leave. What happens when they leave? They take intellectual capital, physical capital, investment capital. And in most cases, if they are investing in jobs and businesses, those jobs and businesses go with them. Millions or Billions of dollars lost if you allow an income tax.
How much will it cost? Well, there’s really no way to tell. Last session, I believe, they proposed a number of taxes that would have extracted an additional two billion dollars from New Hampshire. That’s your money. Not some rich guy’s money, yours. Two billion dollars. Given inflation and everything else, that’s probably a low estimate. Let’s go with a little bit more. Three billion.
That’s a twenty percent hike in the cost of government in one session.
Last year, Republicans stopped all of that. They blocked it.
The Republicans gave you more education freedom, more health freedom, to get the bureaucracy out of your way. They gave you the freedom and responsibility to make decisions about things like car inspections.
Keeping more money in your pocket so you could make decisions about how to engage with it in the economy because they trust you more.
Republicans even gave you the opportunity to put a cap on the single biggest expense affecting your property tax bills. Now remember, property taxes are local. The state has no control over what your town does with its budget, school, or townside. But everybody’s been complaining about property taxes. So they said, here’s a bill. Every town will have its own little warrant article. You can vote to cap education taxes. School and administrative costs.
Doesn’t cut; it just slows the growth a little bit. It makes it easier to adjust, closer to the rate of inflation.
You won’t get ten- or twenty-percent hikes in the cost of schools. Democrats oppose this despite years of bitching about property taxes.
They want to take more of your money every single way they can. New Hampshire Democrats proposed a new income tax, a new sales tax, hiking business taxes, and taxing retirement income.
Now, a lot of Democrats are trying to make this about Donald Trump. But people running for office in New Hampshire have absolutely zero control over what happens in the federal government. They can’t make decisions; they can’t influence anybody. They could write a letter just like you or me; they could make a phone call, but that’s it.
This is about New Hampshire. This is about the Granite State.
New Hampshire representatives can stop the new income tax. They can stop the new sales tax. They can stop hikes to business taxes. They can stop a tax on seniors’ retirement income. But they’d have to be Republicans because Democrats want all of those things. And [Democrats] can’t lie about it because they have legislation to that effect.
Democrats want more of your money. Bills are in play. They will be up for consideration in 2027. A New Hampshire sales tax, a New Hampshire income tax, higher business taxes, and a return to taxing investments.
Why? Well, they want to spend it on the government. But you don’t need more government. You don’t need more taxes. You don’t need higher taxes.
But if you vote for democrats. Or you don’t show up and don’t vote for republicans. Democrats will pass all of these taxes.
They are promising to tax the crap out of you this November.
And while we’re at it, yes, they’ll keep making everything else, including electricity, cost more. And that’s just another tax. So, so much for their affordability argument.
It doesn’t matter how you feel about Donald Trump or anyone in Congress on either side. Trump is not on the ballot.
But he isn’t promising to saddle you with a new income tax and a new sales tax.
In fact, he cut taxes. He cut taxes for families, businesses, working people, no tax on tips or overtime, tax cuts for senior citizens, people on Social Security.
Trump and Republicans prevented a massive tax hike. Democrats voted to keep the tax hike. They voted against the tax cuts for working people.
Here in New Hampshire, same deal.
Democrats voted to make sure they could have an income tax by voting against an effort to ban an income tax.
And they have a bill next session to pass an income tax. New income tax, new sales tax, higher business taxes. That is the Democrat promise in the state of New Hampshire.
And taxes, as we’ve reported in the past, have a bigger impact on affordability than anything else you have to deal with in your day-to-day life.
And if you look at places like California or New York, you know this is true. They are the highest tax places in the country. Right next to us, Vermont, very much like New Hampshire. They went a completely different way years ago. Democrats took over. And that state has been swirling the bowl, losing businesses, losing growth, losing people.
That state’s in trouble. That’s what Democrats want for you in New Hampshire.
And if New Hampshire is like the rest of New England, if we let Democrats go the way of Vermont here, there’s nothing special about us anymore. It’ll be just like Vermont. Businesses will leave. Taxes will get higher. Regulations will get higher. And people will just go away. Businesses won’t expand because the taxes will just go up. They could be anywhere. Why would they want to be here?
People who are fleeing those high tax states are going to places like Texas and Florida and New Hampshire. But if we have an income tax and a sales tax, that’s not going to happen anymore. And when that doesn’t happen, that means no job expansion, no business expansion. And all of that affects tax revenue. And you know what that means? Well, Democrats never cut a budget, so that means they’re going to have to raise taxes even further.
To cover the cost of all the money they lost based on policy decisions they made, and you get to pay for.
It’s actually really, really simple. In New Hampshire, November, is about taxes.
Don’t show up, you probably get a sales and income tax. Show up and vote for a Democrat, you’re definitely gonna get a sales and income tax. Show up and vote for a Republican, and they’re gonna stop those taxes. And they’re probably gonna cut taxes even further and do whatever they can to get the government out of your way.
It’s your money. Republicans think you’re the best judge of how to spend, invest, donate. They trust you. Democrats don’t. That’s why they tax you.
If they did trust you, they wouldn’t take your money to spend it on things that are important to them.
Remember, November in New Hampshire is about stopping an income tax, stopping a sales tax, and stopping business tax hikes.
I’m gonna keep saying it between now and November. I just hope you all have the sense to listen. That’s it for this week. All you gotta do is show up and vote. You gotta show up and vote. And you have to vote Republican. Not because you love Republicans, but because you love New Hampshire. Talk to you next week.
