Morning Update: Misplaced “Keys”

Alicia Keys delivered a soft-spoken and very likely well-meaning message to America on July 5th. Keys, despite her concerns about women’s rights, rose from a single-parent (mom), multi-racial, low-income beginning to become a multimillionaire music-industry icon. Rob Schneider felt a need to add some context which we were eager to share.

Welcome to your Tuesday, July seventh, two thousand and twenty-six. Morning update. Alicia Keys, posted something on Instagram and it found its way to X, and she’s a little confused.

I’ll give you some details on the rest in a minute, but nothing she just said is true. And it was so not true that Rob Schneider wrote her a little letter to explain how not true it was.

Dear Alicia Keys, name one right that women don’t have in America. I will wait.

Please know that women are free to join men working on offshore oil rigs or on deep sea crabbing and fishing vessels, logging trees with gigantic chainsaws, underwater welding from bridge construction and underground mining. you and purdy lady friends can also collect garbage and recycling at six in the morning. And when you’re done with that, you girls are welcome to risk your lives restoring electricity on high power lines.

These rights are waiting for you, but you gals won’t do it because you need men to do it. Because that is what men do. Risk their lives day in and day out, so you lovely girls can just pretend that all those things magically take care of themselves while you bitch and moan about perceived injustices and a lack of rights.

So you go, girl, enjoy your electricity and your roads being repaired and your garbage being magically picked up every Tuesday morning and your fancy vegetables and grass fed steaks tucked into the grocery store at five in the morning, while you have Vietnamese ladies paint your toenails. You can call it toxic masculinity, but you would cry your lovely fake eyelashes off.

When your air conditioning breaks down for more than three hours. You’re welcome. Yours truly, men. Alicia Keys is a lovely and talented woman.

She’s incredibly talented. she came from a rough beginning.

She had a single mom. She was raised by her. She was not exactly rich when she was young. Her mom had to work three jobs in in one telling to support the family. But Alicia ended up going to Columbia and she became a very accomplished classical pianist, which she then leveraged into a pop music career, netting her a current net worth of roughly a hundred and fifty million dollars.

Alicia Keyes, the woman who thinks that young women don’t have the same rights as men, has more money than most men. It’s an interesting problem to have, isn’t it? As it turns out, if you listen to the rest of the video, Alicia is shilling for something called The People’s Bill of Rights, two fifty dot org. I was unable to determine exactly who was funding it, but there are some individuals who are associated with this effort, who I would say are probably not center right.

In any case, the idea is for you and me and Alicia and all the women who agree with her that they don’t have rights, which of course is nonsense because the Constitution’s been amended multiple times, she could be identifying as a giraffe and she would still have the same rights as men. So I had a thought

Since this website is looking for ideas about things we could talk about regarding the Constitution and rights for the next 250 years, everybody watching this should talk to everybody they know and tell them to go to the People’s Bill of Rights 250.org and say we need to repeal the 17th Amendment. it’s probably the best thing we could do to deal with two problems.

Senators who don’t do what their citizens in their states ask, and it would certainly curtail a great deal of the lobbying money corruption in the upper chamber of Congress. So maybe, who knows, that could happen. And then we could thank Alicia Keys.

That’s it for today. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
