Today, on your Morning Update, the Iran thing is a thing that, like most things, would shrink onto the back burner but for the obvious rise in gas prices. So, what do people think about Iran despite that issue? Gallup polled some folks, and the results were surprising.

Welcome to your June 10th, 2026 morning update. Holy crap, it’s already June 10th. Anyway, the Iran thing continues and the Strait of Hormuz situation, and of course, most of us probably wouldn’t really notice, except that we have to put gasoline in our cars. And gas is kind of expensive. It’s come down a tiny bit lately, but you know, while it’s brushing four bucks a gallon and a little higher, it
It’s hard to not have it on your mind. So this poll might be a little enlightening as far as what people think about the situation and the threat that Iran poses.
This is from I&I TIPP.
How much of a threat do you believe Iran poses to the stability of the Middle East? Among all respondents, 64% said it was either a very serious threat, that was 32% of them, or a somewhat serious threat, the other thirty-two percent, while only twenty-three percent described it as not much of a threat, 16% or no threat at all, seven percent, 13% were not sure.
This question marks one of those rare areas where a bipartisan consensus exists. A clear majority of Democrats, 57%, think it’s a serious threat; Republicans, 75%, think it’s a serious threat; and independents, 63%, think it’s a serious threat.
So they all agree. It’s almost overwhelming.
Second question
How much do you trust Iran to comply with international agreements related to its nuclear program? The answer again came back negative, with around 66% saying they had either little trust or no trust at all.
So generally people agree, regardless of how they’re registered to vote, that Iran represents a threat to stability, at least in the Middle East. We’ve learned recently that they represent a threat to stability through most of Europe, because they can reach them with ballistic missiles. We know for a fact that Iran has sworn to destroy the West and to conquer it with Islam. These are all not facts up for debate.
They’ve actually said it. We think they mean it. People in the Middle East who happen to be Muslim are very unhappy with Iran because Iran represents significant instability, by which they mean it would wipe them out because they disagree about which version of Islam is the right one. And Iran is willing to kill everybody to make it theirs.
No one wants them to have nukes. No one thinks they’re going to follow any international agreement. So where does that leave us?
Well, that’s a great question. I think somehow, somewhere, there’s going to have to be some compromise. Somebody is going to have to say, Okay, we’re going to trust you, even though we don’t trust you. As for gas prices, well
We could go back to Joe Biden and the Ukraine war. He had this to say.
I don’t want to pay high prices for gasoline for an extended period of time. But I do not want a functional Iran in any capacity other than one in which it is willing and able to cooperate with the West to create stability in the Middle East. How we get there from here remains to be seen, but only Donald Trump has had the balls to go in there.
and actually do something about it. It could still go sideways.
That’s it for today. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
