Welcome to your Friday, May twenty-ninth, two thousand and twenty-six morning update.
Remember Obamacare? A lot of bad things were said about Obamacare, and quite a few of them turned out to be true. It’s a fiscally disastrous mess that fails to deliver care for even a fraction of the people it promised to, at anywhere near the cost it suggested. But one of the things that came up that was all kinds of fun was the idea that a bunch of government regulators and healthcare professionals
Would not be as empathetic or thoughtful about the lives and families of the ill. The notion of death panels. Mr. Obama even said, I believe, some people would just get a pill, you know, for the pain until they died. Well, they’ve come up with a new system, not that new now. It’s been about ten years Since it’s become really popular in this hemisphere.
Assisted suicide.
But death panels were a conspiracy, you say.
The government wouldn’t do that.
Canada now offering same-day assisted suicide with one elderly woman who changed her mind and got killed anyway. It’s like dry cleaning. You get the good news in the morning, and you’re dead before dinner.
So no, death panels is true. Turns out if you have doctors and public health officials and regulators who are running the healthcare system, and of course in the case of Canada it’s a nationalized system, you get death panels.
Canadian doctor met a man, forty-five, suffering from IBD and depression outside Tim Hortons and took him to be euthanized. Maybe he has IBD because he spends so much time at Tim Hortons. Ha. Maybe not. I don’t know. He might have just been standing there.
Anyway, a Canadian doctor euthanized a man suffering from inflammatory bowel disease and depression after assessing him outside a Tim Hortons. So now we do MAID assessments outside of Tim Hortons. That’s just fantastic. Dr. James McLean has been placed under mandatory clinical supervision for six months following allegations that he improperly administered medical assistance in dying to two patients. McLean was investigated after he approved Thomas Dillon, who had Crohn’s disease.
Mr. Dillon was in his forties. We would like to think that there was an opportunity for him to turn a few corners before his death. But no, he was probably presenting as a potential financial threat to the solvency of the public health system. So we don’t need him. Death panel.
But wait, it gets better.
In a separate case, McLean also botched and assisted death by failing to administer a vital drug that paralyzes the body’s muscles, according to the CPSO. That patient resumed breathing again after they were pronounced dead and McLean had already left their home.
This is not an outlier; this is what the system has become. It is a murder cult, an increasingly sloppy murder cult because when you put the government in charge of anything, two things are always going to happen.
It’s going to get incredibly expensive, and it’s gonna be messy, sloppy, full of fraud, poorly regulated, poorly managed.
And people are going to die. People who don’t need to die.
At some point, they just kill you. And at some point, depending on the government, they might just kill you for disagreeing with them.
