“Courage can be contagious.”
I met Vivek when he first started his campaign here in NH; I was intrigued. He was saying mostly all the right things and I was given a chance to talk with him again. Afterwards, his campaigned asked if I’d be willing to speak at his next return turn, starting it off with “They REALLY gave me, a political blogger, an open mic? Silly people…”
And I stayed around and watched him a couple more times. Smart, he knew what Conservatives wanted to hear (or learning what lingo he didn’t know quickly). Young, quick on his feet, knew his message.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t stick around during the “political wonk Superbowl primary” to keep going – or see anyone else. Family matters came first, and I dropped out and off “the circuit.” And then had to stop writing for almost eight months. But I kept reading and watching to see how he’d fare. Not as well as I had hoped but better than I figured from a practical point of view. And it was clear, watching his quick and deft defense of American Exceptionalism (which the Left HATES), that he had cleaned up any loose ends, filled holes, and had become more comfortable with himself and in addressing crowds.
The most important political speech of his life:
Rumors are swirling on a few “what’s next”:
- Invited to a Cabinet position in the Trump Admin
- A “fixer” in reducing the size of the Federal bureaucracy
- Run in Ohio to fill JD Vance’s seat if he becomes the Vice President
I don’t think he’s going away for a while…hope not, anyways.
