Schools Are Wasting Student Time On WOKE Education

A few weeks ago I received a call from a journalist who wanted to talk about the safe spaces in college campuses around the country. She was trying to figure out why so many college students did not have coping skills to handle the outcome of the election.

As we began to chat, we talked about how schools have become pseudo-mental health centers, run by counselors who think they are mental health providers for children. It’s akin to sending your child to the school nurse for cancer treatment. A child experiencing depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts should be seen outside the school system by a Child Psychologist who has a Phd, and clinical training. When it comes to some of these more serious issues, you will want expert care for your child. While a school counselor can certainly guide and direct a child to these sources, they are not educated or trained to handle these issues.

Affinity Spaces are what the new Diversity Director in SAU16 shared with kids at Cooperative Middle School in Stratham.  Every child had to go through and listen to this presentation about identity groups, including furries, etc.  Several students reported that they thought it was weird, and some felt uncomfortable.

Of course this snake oil is being sold in SAU16 by the DEI Director, but let’s look at what others are saying about this. In Call Racial “Affinity Groups” What They Are: Segregation, the author goes on to say:

Segregation has a new brand name: racial “affinity groups.” Race-based “affinity groups”
and
However, despite these claimed positives, many corporations have also found that affinity groups polarize employees, and many people of color are reluctant to join such groups for “fear of being reduced to their racial identity.”
and
For example, Truss Leadership, a so-called “racial equity” consulting group that works with numerous school districts, declares that “Racial Affinity Groups are NOT … Racist or segregationist,” but also says they are a place where white people can “reckon with their Whiteness” and non-white people can “take care of themselves and one another…in the absence of Whiteness.”

Kids will be wasting time in group therapy with the Diversity Director, instead of learning academics. This is not anything new for SAU16 since they’ve been skipping down the WOKE path for several years.

You can see that they are still dividing children into identity groups but claim this doesn’t divide children. This certainly causes division among children. You send your child to school to be educated, not to be put in the middle of a culture war. Most parents would prefer if schools focused on teaching children respectful behavior and the importance of showing kindness to others.

While they give lip service, saying that this is open to any student in any group, they identify who is typically marginalized. They didn’t include the Christian students who were mocked for their religious views a few years ago by teachers. Some parents brought this forward at school board meetings.

There is nothing inclusive about these inclusive and WOKE DEI agendas. They marginalize religious students because they’re never mentioned. When was the last time you saw a Crucifix or Star of David hanging in a classroom? You will see plenty of Pride flags in this so-called inclusive school.

Most people do not take these inclusive WOKE DEI agendas or directors seriously because the hypocrisy has been exposed on numerous occasions.
