What hit me immediately after reading “Here’s how much income you need to be in the top 1% in every state” was that the states with the highest top incomes (i.e., greater than $900K/year) were run by Democrats. They included California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts (i.e., the bluest of the blue states).
By comparison, the states with the lowest top incomes (i.e., less than $550K/year) were the reddest of the red states. They include West Virginia, Kentucky, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and New Mexico.
Also, notice that the blue states are the “most expensive” states to live in, and the red states are the “least expensive.” Logic would suggest that red states lean toward socialism/Communism, but it’s the exact opposite. Why?
I have two theories. First, red states want smaller government, lower taxes, and more freedoms, whereas blue states want more handouts and are willing to give up their freedoms. Second is that the wealth disparity is far more obvious in blue states.
Which are we?
Our NH House, Senate, and Governor are predominantly republicans, yet our federal representatives are Democrats who don’t oppose the Democratic Socialist of America (DSA). In fact, Chris Pappas and Maggie Goodlander voted to shut down the government twice. Most recently, to defund Homeland Security. They also voted against the Save America Act, which would ensure only American citizens vote in our elections. They will probably vote with the DSA if reelected.
Both Pappas and Goodlander ads are promising to fight corruption, yet they ignore the fraud exposed in blue states by the current administration. They should support NH values, not the DSA’s.
