MACDONALD: My Chat with Jeff Chidester on His Morning Update

The WFEA Morning Update with Jeff Chidester is where Granite Staters get their news and opinion in the morning, and I have the honor and privilege of being a guest once a month. We recently moved it to the 4th Wednesday of the month. I used to be on the first Wednesday, but I get more time in the new slot.

Yesterday, Jeff and I chatted about Colleges closing and the trouble with Canada. Terrestrial radio isn’t something I’ve done much of in a while. My radio career started in High School with a daily DJ gig spinning records (actual LPs, my friends). Many years later, I stepped in as the engineer and a co-commenter on New Hampshire Taxpayer Radio with Ed Naile and Jane Aitken. After a few years of that, there was another break until GrokTALK!, which was a weekly two-hour podcast before there were podcasts. We did over 160 episodes of that, followed by a few attempted reboots until last year, when I took the project on as a serious weekly solo thing with the occasional guest, to which I added my own Morning Update in September of 2025.

I’ve done guest spots over the years as well, but WFEA’s morning update is the first regular “radio” thing in a while, and I’m grateful for the opportunity.

Here’s the conversation. From Altschiller’s Bathroom Bill freak to Canada and the US to Colleges closing. Check it out.
