MACDONALD: ‘Grok Readers’ Can Now Listen to Our Content!

We are still deploying the update, but all new content published on GraniteGrok should now come with an audio player at the top. Yes, you can listen to some AI guy or Gal read our content to you.

Regular readers will already have noticed!

You can also listen while surfing other content as long as the page or tab remains open. That includes on Mobile – I tested it. You can use other apps on your device as long as the page is minimized and not closed.

If the content says “Audio coming soon,” it may be an older post published before we added the plugin, or it may be waiting for a server connection to the service.

Trigger warning. These types of applications can be very expensive, so ours will have to include ads at some point soon. We couldn’t afford to bring this option to you any other way, and it has been on my list for a while.

Many in our audience would engage with more content if they didn’t have to read it or try to read it. The print isn’t small, and you can make it bigger, but audio increases the odds that someone will engage with the content, and yes, the ads will generate revenue to help us keep the lights on.

I can’t promise fewer requests for donors and donations. In fact, feel free to give now because we are behind on our fundraising for 2026, and nothing ever gets cheaper, even when you manage to find a way to deliver or expand your service for low or no cost (with minimal inconvenience), but there is some decent revenue potential from this.

I hope you like it.
