After we switched hosting companies, the newsletter got hung up for a few days. I started to receive it again, but not everyone did. I’m not yet clear on why that is. It’s always something, right?
If you were receiving it and no longer are, please check your spam folder to ensure it’s not there. Then email me at steve@granitegrok.com to let me know you are not getting your daily ‘Grok.
Third-party apps like Gmail have often/always blocked it, and I can’t do much about that. But if you were receiving it two weeks ago and are not now, I can look into it.
If necessary, I may just forward mine to the list of folks who reach out, but fixing it is the goal.
[Update] The old newsletter plugin has been removed. I have moved the newsletter to Substack. If you are not getting that you can sign up for it here. It’s free. There is an option to donate, but no paid subscription is required to receive the Daily Update or access the content.
Browser Issues – We Have a Fix
We are still working out why this is, but for a few weeks, some Edge and Brave Browser users could not access ‘Grok content. The browser’s front-facing security was dancing with Cloudflare, giving off 404 errors until our Firewall reached a 404 error rate that exceeded that of a human, and just blocked the whole futile exercise.
We still don’t know what in the browser causes it. We do know you can correct it in your Browser. Some Brave users never had an issue, but a reader did deliver a fix tomy inbox today (THANK YOU AGAIN!!!)
Right-click the ‘Grok link and select “open link in private window” or “…new private window,” or “New incognito Window,” or whatever your browser calls it. The post, page, or site pops up quickly and happily, and as long as you are in private or incognito mode, there are no issues.
None.
When I delivered this update to the hosting company head honcho, she said that must mean it is a browser extension.
In incognito mode, all your browser extensions are disabled. That tells me that it’s probably an extension that is interfering with the site. That would also explain why it’s working for some Brave users and not other.
We will keep working on the problem until we figure out what extension (s) it might be or if it has something to do with some other feature of private/incognito mode.
No, I still don’t know why some folks suddenly had this issue and others didn’t, but the extension explanation certainly narrows the places we need to look.
We appreciate your patience.
