The only city I know where they demolish an entire building, and build a totally new one is Las Vegas, Nevada! Grafton County ain’t Vegas, baby!
In my opinion, after following Grafton County Commissioners’ Meetings via ZOOM since June of 2024 (except for the 17-week unilateral and arbitrary Blackout of ZOOM meetings by Chairwoman Martha McLeod), the following Grafton County Complex personnel should resign immediately: Maintenance Supervisor, James Oakes; County Administrator, Julie Libby; Commissioner, Katie Hedberg; and Commissioner, Martha McLeod.
In my opinion, Mr. Oakes did not do a thorough job of presenting a sound case for preventive maintenance (“pm”) to the taxpayers of Grafton County over the years. Not many seem to know the extent of lack of maintenance which is needed. In my opinion, he should have gone to the public via interviews with reporters, writing articles in the various newspapers, and found other ways of alerting the taxpayers of the debilitating, worsening conditions at the Grafton County Courthouse. I guess protecting his cushy position was more important?
In my opinion, Mrs. Libby should resign for presenting such a ludicrous plan to fund the bond for building another courthouse with, not one, but two, long-term, 25-year, multi-million-dollar loans with increasing variable interest rates, ultimately costing us $73 million. Unbelievably, she proposes this preposterous and laughable “pay-off” while we still have a multi-million-dollar bond pay-back remaining on the building of the new jail. This is incredulous when we owe $37.8 TRILLION DOLLARS in Federal Debt, costing us $ 1 TRILLION DOLLARS in interest every year! I guess they never taught her the meaning “Billions” and “Trillions” while studying for her Associate’s Degree (AS) in Accounting at Champlain College?
Katie Hedberg should resign for making the motion at the Commissioners’ Meeting of August 26, 2025, “…to approve conceptual design and move to bond…”
Martha McLeod should also resign, in my opinion, for seconding the Hedberg motion stated above, followed by”…we’ve done our due diligence.” Additionally, in my opinion, Martha McLeod should resign for her Blackout of 17 weeks of virtual ZOOM Commissioners’ Meetings, thus denying accountability to Grafton County taxpayers and residents who could not be physically present at these important meetings.
Additionally, Hedberg and McLeod were the only two who voted to bond this untimely and unaffordable project.
