Legislative maps, which determine how each district is drawn, need to be redesigned to reflect population changes—political parties, however, like to redraw them to increase their political power and diminish their opponents. The debates are contentious, with the results typically favoring the majority.
When Democrats in the Texas legislature fled their state to avoid a fight they were going to lose, along with a handful of seats in Congress. They figured they could prevent a quorum and end the debate altogether, but running off to Illinois was something of an epic joke. You don’t fight gerrymandering by going to a state with some of the worst examples of it on record.
Not that they would ever fight that. It is how they got seats in Congress, they probably didn’t deserve.
The Texas AG has begun pursuing legal action to remove these Democrats from office for abandoning their constituents. I had lunch with a politically connected Texas resident this week, and when I asked him, he said Paxton seems to think he has legal grounds to get it done.
Attorney General Ken Paxton on Friday asked the Texas Supreme Court to expel 13 Democrats from the state House, the latest in a flurry of unprecedented actions aiming to resume business at the Capitol and pass new congressional maps to benefit Republicans. ..
Paxton argued that these representatives effectively abandoned their offices by leaving the state Sunday to stop the House from passing a new congressional map that would redraw district lines with the aim of netting five seats for Republicans. He said these 13, among the dozens who have left the state, “made incriminating public statements regarding their refusal to return, essentially confirming in their own words the very grounds for this legal action.”
In 2021, Texas Dems fled to DC to prevent a quorum, during which time a bunch of the vaccinated among them came down with COVID. Their little superspreader trip turned into a joke on the internet. And if I recall correctly, before that, Wisconsin Dems fled to Illinois to avoid voting on legislation to defang unions and pass right to work.
In 2025, these antics have started a series of previously unplanned redistricting efforts in Red states where they could easily pick up a significant number of almost guaranteed Republican seats in the midterms. That has dems fuming and reporters asking governors if they intend to join the games.
WMUR, the local ABC stenographers of the deep state, asked New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte.
“The timing is off for this because we are in the middle of the census period, and when I talk to people in New Hampshire, this is not at the top of their priority list,” she said in an interview with local station WMUR on Friday.
Republicans in the NH Legislature tried to redistrict to improve Republican odds in its two Congressional Districts, but RINO Chris Sununu vetoed it to impress whom I have no idea. You can’t be Democrat enough to impress the hard left. Just look at all the trouble Dems got themselves in trying to appease their radicals. It could destroy their party.
It is a lot more fun to trigger them and watch the wind-up toys spin out of control. They can’t be pleased or appeased, so stop trying. That’s probably a rule number something if you’re keeping track at home.
And I’m not sure if Gov. Ayotte shares the same perspective on the subject, but in related news, President Trump has ordered the Commerce Department to re-examine the Census and exclude non-citizens from population calculations. Since population defines the seats in Congress, removing non-citizens (as in those who are not allowed to vote and therefore have no Constitutional representation in Congress) would undermine the entire displacement plan that’s been on the deep state books since before Obama.
This is the foundation of their objections to deportation, and it explains why they don’t care about the crime and chaos. If your primary concern is growing political power and the one-party state, assaults, rape, murder, drug deaths, and human trafficking are necessary side effects to achieve the goal. Side effects that impact you and not them, which is precisely how their form or rule works, if you’d missed it. You get all the negative downstream impacts while they live like kings and queens.
To Gov. Ayotte’s credit, she’s been on the Trump side of deportations, signed legislation banning sanctuary cities and counties in the state, and has been supportive of ICE taking action within our borders. She’s just not interested in the redistricting thing, which, I have to agree, is a distraction – at least in New Hampshire. We need to save our political capital for other fights.
