For the Love of All That’s Holy, Someone Please Primary Rep Pearson!

by Julie Smith

The religious flavor of this article’s title was intentional because of the religious credentials listed on Rep. Pearson’s home page.  I’m talking about the father (Mark) rather than the son (Steve), though Ezekiel 18:20 says the father doesn’t share the guilt with the son.  With that said, the apple still doesn’t fall far from the tree as the son is also a rep, and they are both enemies of 91A, but I’m here to talk about what’s wrong with the senior Rep. Pearson.

Former Rep. Leah Cushman, a devout believer herself, shared a Rebuild tweet about Rep Pearson, who is the current chair of the Children and Family Law committee.  Pearson said that it’s a legislator’s job to vote based on whether they like the idea of the bill and NOT consider whether it is constitutional or not as “that’s the court’s job.”  I’ll step aside for the experts, like Daniel Richard and his respected colleagues, to play analyst on that one.  Meanwhile, I will bring up some older baggage from 3 years ago when Pearson was the HHS chair-and a nasty one at that!

On 2/7/22, the muzzled Pearson was universally nasty to almost everyone in the room except the lobbyists, who were called up to the mic first and received unlimited time.  Everyone else was forced into a strict two or 3-minute time limit while he interrupted many speakers during their mic time so he could bloviate and pontificate.  He was rude to committee members, like Mrs. DeLemus, whose mic was malfunctioning that day.  He was particularly demeaning to the public, regularly making snide remarks about bringing a sleeping bag and teddy bear to the hearing.  You just can’t make this stuff up, so I’m providing the link for readers who either forgot about that day or are still in disbelief.  Kudos to Rep. Kelley Potenza, a private citizen at the time, for pushing back hard as he was viciously reprimanding her.  My blood is still boiling today as I fantasize over cruel and unusual punishments he deserves.  Given his disregard for the Constitution, he is definitely undeserving of its protections.

Another thing that should not be forgotten about Pearson is that he clearly had a conflict of interest when it came to any bill involving vax interests because his wife has a clinic, known as the New Creation Healing Center, and I just happened to have saved an old social media post.  The Pearsons are definitely covid cultists and there should be no place for such people in the legislature, but here’s the problem.  Pearson is somewhat of a fixture in a red community and is very emboldened in his arrogance as an inner circle Uniparty member.

There are two ways to get rid of Mark Pearson, and I suggest implementing both strategies.  The first one is to recruit a viable opponent for the next primary.  The other one is to get rid of his ticket to leadership, Speaker Packard, which can be done in one of two ways.  Someone can primary him, but he’s in Londonderry, and old-world power runs deep in that red town with several House seats.  The other is encouraging the next House to elect someone else to his position.  Whatever failed to get Rep. Turcotte the gavel last fall should be examined and efforts retooled for 2026.

People rate the heat of hot peppers in Scoville units and there’s a hierarchy to each variety.  My contempt for Rep. Pearson, despite being a Republican on paper, is up there with that of many Dems.  He needs to go and I doubt he will voluntarily retire anytime soon.
