Gov. Sununu Receives Summons For NH9 Civil Suit (Wrongful Arrest…)

by Steve MacDonald

Governor Sununu is being sued as part of a wrongful arrest claim against him, and today, he was handed his summons to appear in court.

The soon-to-be former governor is implicated along with the state police on seven counts, including violating citizens’ First, Fourth, Fifth, and Eighth Amendment rights.

Nine citizens were arrested at an Executive Council in October 2021. Seven of them are named as Plaintiffs. The State of New Hampshire, the Governor, The State Police, and an unknown number of John Does are listed as defendants (individuals who may become known during discovery).

GraniteGrok has extensive coverage of the arrests, including video of the event, the arrests, and after. We covered the AG finding no reasonable way to proceed with prosecution, an admission that the state had no case, and allegations that the governor pressured state representatives to ignore what appeared to be unlawful arrests of their constituents.

You can read the civil suit in its entirety here.

The summons appears to have been delivered before or after today’s Executive Council meeting.

Surprise!
