So the post-election dust has settled, and there will be nine recounts for the House and none on the other side of the wall, making what JJ Valera calls “the country club” finalized in its roster. Eight is enough, and I’m sure that Dick Van Patten has been voting for one or more of them since 2015. However, a recent tweet has come to my attention, and the graphic better resembles the Brady Bunch.
The men-to-woman ratio is 3:5 rather than the 4:4 of the sitcom, but we’re talking about the party that thinks there are more than two genders. Had the graphic been my own creation, it would have the following configuration.
Seeing that RPK has been selected to take Donna Soucy’s place as the queen bee, she would get the top middle, as that’s Carol Brady’s spot. Rosenwald, as RPK’s assistant, would get Marsha’s place at the top left. Watters, as the senior swamp rat, would get Mike Brady’s place, the bottom middle. Prentiss can be Greg because she has seniority to Donovan Fenton and Altschiller, who are still freshmen until Organization Day. They can be Peter and Jan, respectively. That leaves freshmen-elect Alderman Long and Tara Reardon, who can be Bobby and Cindy, respectively.
One might argue that the enemy camp’s senior staffer should be Alice, especially since “this is just a housekeeping bill” is often heard in the senate chamber, but let’s give that spot to Buckley because it is “The Buckley Bunch.”
