Follow Up – NH AG Orders Hampton Town Clerk to Resign After Multiple Election Law Violations

I decided to follow up on Steve’s post (NH AG Orders Hampton Town Clerk to Resign After Multiple Election Law Violations) to see if Hampton Town Clerk Shirly Doheny had followed the NH State Attorney General’s Office demand to resign. So I called.

Now you get to figure out which it is – A “no”, embarrassment, circling the wagons or “stonewalling”?

So I called the Town Manager’s office, was presented with a bunch of options to go elsewhere within town government, or leave a voicemail. So much for test 1.

Test 2: I called the Town Clerk’s office. When someone answered the phone, I introduced myself as being from GraniteGrok.com and that I was following up on Steve’s post and simply asked “Has the Town Clerk resigned per the State’s AG’s Office demand of July 29th?”.

The reply was quite short: “I have no comment”. Click. So much for test 2.

Test 3: so I decided to send an email as a follow-up. I doubt that I’ll get a reply from the Town Clerk but I should get one from the Town Manager, don’t you think?

Subject NH Attorney General ordering Hampton Town Clerk to resign

Good morning,

On July 29th, the State Attorney General Office demanding that Hampton Town Clerk Shirley Doheny resign by this Friday due to voting administration irregularities.

Many media sites have covered this and I am following up on our story on this (found here: https://granitegrok.com/new-england/nh/2024/08/nh-ag-tells-hampton-town-clerk-to-resign-over-multiple-election-law-violations).

Has the Town Clerk resigned?

I tried calling the Town Manager phone and the only option was to leave a voice mail.  I then called the Town Clerk’s office, introduced myself and asked if the Town Clerk had yet resigned. I was answered with a curt “I have no comment” and was hung up on.

Thus, has the Town Clerk, per the order of the AG’s Office, resigned yet?

Thank you for your time.

So let’s see if I get a response. Else, I’ll try again on Monday.

Skip,

Town Clerk Doheny has not submitted her resignation as of this writing. It is my understanding she intends to do so on Thursday 8/8 when the office closes (which is 7:00pm).

Best,

Jamie
